Speaker Cables, One side longer- bad idea?

As you might have guessed, I have my stereo off to
the side with nothing between the speakers. I
need to buy new cables and decided I didn't like
the looks of a bunch of loose, extra wire for one
side. In fact, a local dealer that does custom
home installs with Transparent Audio cables
told me that they regulary messure off the length
needed and don't worry about the extra 4-6 feet on
one side.
