speaker cable and speaker's in room response

Hi folks, is it possible that speaker cables could alter a speaker's in room frequency response?

My maggies come with 1ohm resistors to put in series with the HF panel to do the same thing. Short answer? Yep. Buy yourself some 24ga wire, run 50 ft of it to each speaker. It'll sound awful.
