Sony DVP-S9000ES or Meridian 586 DVD/CD

HELLO ALL!I AM LOOKING TO BUY A CD/DVD PLAYER FOR MY SECOND SYSTEM WHICH IS ALSO THE MAIN TV ROOM FOR THE KIDS.CD PLAYBACK IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN THE DVD PLAYBACK.THE DVD WILL BE MOSTLY FOR MY CHILDREN BUT I WILL WATCH AN OCCASIONAL MOVIE WHEN I CAN BREAK AWAY FROM MY VINYL SYSTEM.I THINK THESE ARE 2 GOOD CHOICES BUT WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS HANDS ON EXPERIENCE WITH BOTH UNITS.AGAIN 2 CHANNEL CD PLAYBACK IS MY PRIORITY BUT I WANT A GREAT PICTURE ALSO.THANKYOU.

Some 9000 will play back CD-R, some won't. I think they will all play CD-RW though.

One thing to consider, if I'm not mistaken, is that the DVP-S900ES will not play back CDR's. This is from indirect information, but I believe it is correct. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
