my experience is pretty much the same as Tvad's with the couple DVD/CD/SACD players I have owned. I actually paid more attention to the break in sound of my current player and noticed that every format seemed to need it's own "break in"...go figure...I don't have the expertise to say why. I pretty much listened to cd's and sacd's exclusively for the first couple weeks (and let one or the other format play on repeat 24/7) breaking in those two portions...and when I watched my first dozen or so dvd's after that, they didn't sound very good...now after using the DVD portion more, the sound on a DVD is getting better also.
