Sonos and Qobuz high rez

I been experimenting a bit with my little Sonos connect and various setups.  If I use it as an Roons endpoint and source Qobuz hi rez (24/96) you can clearly see the DSP converts to 16/44 and my DAC indicated 44khz. If I source the same song and use my iPad and Qobuz app and go directly to my DAC via USB the DAC indicates 96Khz.  If I use the Sonos app and go straight to Qobuz it still plays but not sure why.  The Sonos only handles redbook CD quality.  I suppose the conversion is being done at some stage in the chain?  If i look in QoBuz app I only see the high res version of the music I was streaming.   I remember a year or so ago when I tried to play Hi Rez through the Sonos app it just wouldn't play.  But now it do. :/

For similar money ditch the Sonos and go with a Bluesound Node 2i. Not even close. That is unless you have a full Sonos system. NAS support killed the Sonos for me. Could play FLAC and other high res files.
Ok obviously I did a lousy job of making my question clear.  After some additional testing it does appear that Qobuz do have the intelligence to do the bit depth and Sample conversion to play on Sonos.  Kudos to those guys.
