What significant advancements in solid state amplifiers have occurred in the last decade?
Specifically in Class A and Class A/B.

Historically, he has given us audiophiles some of the greatest SS power amps. 2nd would be Mr. Mark Levinson. On the tubed -side, Conrad Johnson and Audio Research comes into my mind.
