Software spectrum analyzer

I downloaded an evaluation copy of a software spectrum analyzer (Spectrogram from www.monumental.com). Has anyone else tried it?

It seems to offer a lot of potential in analyzing the system and room response. If I can get a microphone with a flat audio freq response, this tool could be used to analyze the room's response behavior.

Although my laptop only has a mono input, i connected it to the headphone out and tried the stereophile test CD2. Got some interesting results -- need to experiment further.

If you check the back issues of TAA the IMP articles give you the infor on the Panasonic WM-60 (I think) electret mic element that is damn flat for <$10.00.

I think that Digi-Key sells the mics,
and Bill Waslo of Liberty Instrument sells them calibrated, as did/does Old Colony
