Sistrum or Neuance or...?

I'm considering some isolation for my transport and DAC. Which of the Sistrum or Neuance do you recommend? Or what else? I'm certainly open to suggestions. Thanks.

How is it that you select a frequency to be dampened that will not impune the quality of an adjacent frequency you want un-dampened.? Tom
I have measured a 1.5 decibel increase in gain with the use of a Sistrum Sp1 platform and 3 Audiopoint apcd2 coupling discs under a Krell 280cd player. I new I could always hear a big increase in detail, staging and dynamics but never tried to put numbers to what I heard. I had a fellow co-worker dare me to measure what I professed to be hearing. My co-worker and I took our stores Audio Control Rta ran several test tones thru the Krell player at a preset pre-amp level and recorded this to the memory of the rta. We then placed the Sistrum Sp1 platform on 3 apcd coupling discs and then placed the same Krell player on the platform and repeated playing the same tones thru the cd player without any alteration to the pre-amp level. We recorded between 1 and 1.5 decibel gain in level when using the Sistrum Sp1 platform. The rack that all the equipment was on, was a Furniture Works 5 made of steel with wooden shelves resting on steel points on carpet over concrete. I have never attempted this test on any so-called isolation shelf or racking system.. Tom
Sean this test/experiment was done over two years ago. From what I can remember most of the gain was in the 200 to 2500 hz range. We also did a pink noise test with the same methods and the Sistrum seemed to have a flatter in room response thru the mid bass on up into the midrange as stated. The graphs stored on the rta made for easy comparisons..The mic was set up at the best listening position for that particular system..Sean the Sistrum and Audiopoints are coupling devices and not isolation devices. I believe when placed under devices that Sistrum somehow helps in the alignment of electro-mechanical fields so they are less random and more focused. And because they are more properly aligned they are more efficient.. I believe this focus point is ground hence the coupling. Has anyone measured or tried to measure any gain in output or a change in response on devices that were cryo'd..Many brass players have stated that their saxophones and trumpets were easier to play and so much more lively after being cryo'd that they had to reduce their breathing levels by a third. Maybe Sistrum provides the same benefit..Tom
Hey if you haven't tried it in all these years of bickering about It, try going to your bank and taking out a signature loan. Or maybe your just afraid the results will give you nothing more to bicker about. Sistrum that is..Tom
250lbs. or more. Have used with Krell mono's, Bat multi-channel .Dunlavy SC4's and SC 5's, Thiel CS6. Weight does not seem to be an issue..Tom
Try placing a Sistrum Sp1 under your Sony Sacd player and it will make a greater difference than any of the hot rod electronic upgrades you will invest three times as much in..Tom
4, I am sorry. I thought in one of your reviews you stated you owned a Sony Sacd player..I myself have the new Krell Sacd player which I love..of course I have it performing atop Sistrum..Tom
Hey Newbee you need to try a Sistrum Sp101 under your Bat cd player the difference will be so large you will think you have a new and much better player..I use to sell Bat products and have used Sistrum under all their products..Much greater dynamics, more transparent and extends and opens the highs..much more live air. Had a ARC SP10 20 years ago,Sistrum was not around then for me to try on the Arc, but experience tells me the resolution would be much better..Tom
These are the type of topical questions to be discussed!..I know not, how either is selective or how broad band or how rejective they are..I know by ear...by a wide margin which approach I prefer..I have measured an increase in gain..and smoother in room response, and what I saw on a RTA as proof, as to what I was hearing, when using and testing a Sistrum Sp1..Tom
Its a component difference..Sorry your missing out..Oh well..Could it be a new application of many old discoveries..Is that so damn scary or hard to lend an ear to or to try, and to ignore and to burn? I use the stuff, its great stuff, the stuff has never let me down ,it has always made everything better. Tom
Sean I was not BSing when I stated earlier that I measured an increase in spl and a smoother in room frequency response when using a Sistrum Sp101 under a Krell 280cd..I used a Audio Control Rta and calibrated mic..There was a gain in output/efficiency.Tom
Newbee if you are truly interested I do not mind sharing my experiences..and my thoughts as to what is happening when using Sistrum..Many disagree and many agree..Sistrum acts as a conduit for resonate energy to drain thru..These drain fields help set up patterns for energy to exit by.This energy is self generated by the device and thru external influences.{sound pressure]..If these influences are left untapped[aka dampening] then they will influence again and again and again the amplifying circuitry that we all feel to be the best..well.. you have never heard your expensive gear work at its highest effiencey until you drain away this muddy crap....If your equipment has to amplify grunge along with signal then its lost efficiency.. If the grunge has a path to vacate thru and not to travel within the music it will SOUND BETTER..Tom
Ohlala what I saw on the RTA was more energy and yet a smoother in room response from about 200hz on up to about 3k..There was about a 1.5db gain in spl..using pink noise. Smoother means less rises and valleys, the read out on the screen of the rta was more linear in nature. The led's of the read out varied less up and down, they seemed to react in a slower and more contrite pace. There was more energy in the room yet the pressure was more uniform in structure.Tom
Big bang was in dispute..black holes were in dispute. If it ain't in the book it ain't so.Tesla is still being pondered. Some dilbert hundred years ago said there is nothing left to be discovered. Nose so close to the pages ya can't see the edges...myopic..Tom
Sean if you had one at your door would you not have the time to try it?..Would you not trust your own ears? Are you afraid the aural results would conflict with your predisposition to science and to the Sistrum product? Tom
Hello Jay.Your right.. The easiest way to explain Sistrum is to have someone put it to use in their system. It then becomes the most effective means of communication. All the mis conceptions and predispositions melt away..Tom
Psychiccritter.. you in all of your one liner wisdom and your soup sandwich approach to hi-fi will never get it.. you, yourself and not I, have predetermined that...Tom
I love the way this junk improves the sound of my stuff and so do my friends also enjoy vasts amount of smiles when they listen to their stuff on top of this junk.It makes their stuff sound bigger taller wider as if the band has moved into their places to play till 4am just before they gotta go deliver their paper route. Just all around the result is better more enjoyable stuff.
Larry thanks for the invite, the listen, the great company and the coffee, I am still wired. As you said the Halcro gear has no flavor of its own, quite remarkable electronics. The Sound Labs are purity defined, so much inner detail, resolution and dynamic coherence. I have never used Sistrum with true state of the art electronics such as yours. I am up for the learning experience and the audio adventure. Sp101's under your Sound Labs..Sp1's under each of the Halcro's. Can it get any better? I think so..Lets try.. I am a Starsound dealer..Tom
Bevan great to know that Audiopoints are well heard of half way around the world..Wish we could beam you over a complete Sistrum package duty free..I haven't been a doubting Thomas for many years now..Tom..I am a Starsound dealer.
