Review: Verastarr StarrCable Speaker cable

Category: Cables

My musical tastes are mainly classical and jazz and my wife listens to a lot of classic rock. Testing was done using John Williams "American Journey" and Moussorgky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

The most important aspect of speaker cables is the ability to reproduce music accurately without picking up "background" noise from other cables nearby. Additionally, the cables should be transparent and should not be muddy or harsh sounding.

I had these cables for a couple of weeks, they were a stepping stone from between the 6+ and the Slate cables from AQ. I didn't really use the cables long enough for them to fully break in, but I'm sure that if I did, they would have been a very welcome addition to my system.

The strengths include the shielding which helps to minimize "cross talk" from other cables such as power cables. The signal was clean, however the new cables were a little harsh on the high end, but like I said, I did not allow enough time for them to break in or I am sure this would not have been a problem.

Weaknesses - The cables are not solid single conductor so there is the potential for cross talk within the cable, however I did not have any problems.

I don't own these cables any longer, gave them to my father-in-law for his home theater.

Vtgrumpy - why would you post a review of this product considering the following statement:

"didn't really use the cables long enough for them to fully break in, but I'm sure that if I did, they would have been a very welcome addition to my system".

You then state that you no longer even own the cables! In my opinion, if something is going to be posted as a review, then you should use it long enough to break in. On another note, you state that the "signal was clean" . It is unclear (to me) what this really means.
