restoring music library from mac "Time Machine"

If my music is backed up by "Time Machine" and is then restored will there be some loss of sonic quality? Thanks -Howard

It shouldn't. Why would you think it does?

Unless you ripped in Apple Lossless or AIFF and then used iTunes Match to match it to a lossy M4A format
Well, I was wondering if "Time Machine" itself is a compression algorithm, and if so would it be functionally lossy. -Howard
I'm not specifically familiar with Time Machine, but while drive imaging and backup programs often use compression algorithms, as far as I am aware they are invariably lossless, and provide bit-perfect restorations. Otherwise restored data files, program files, and operating system files wouldn't function.

So I wouldn't worry about it. Regards,
