Resistive bearing

Hi all, just got my mits on a DPS motor and power supply after a long search - want to use it with my Townsshend Elite Rock Mk2 (the Elite has an utterly lamentable motor - no torque and buzzez like a bee). Anyway, the DPS uses a 'resistive bearing'.

My question is this, can one use a very sticky and thick grease in a bearing to make it 'resistive' so to speak in the way the DPS works? Alternatively can I use some silicone oil of heavy viscosity to do this?

Has anyone done any such experiments?
