Request for help regarding Linn Kairn Remote Control Issue

I have an original Linn Kairn preamp with remote that no longer is recognizing each other. The batteries died in the remote and I just replaced them. The preamp itself works fine manually. Now I can't seem to get it to sync with the preamp and I can't find my original manual. I think I remember having to previously enter a numerical code of button sequence to get it to work, but I'm not sure. Can anyone shed some light?
