Replace motor in Sota Star Series IV,how difficult

Has anybody done this? Does it require any special talent or tools to do this properly? Any place to buy motor cheaper than factory?Does motor come out through the plinth or do you have to pull sub-assembly apart? Any help from people that h ave done this is welcome. Thank you.
