Remove spring from RB300

How "easy" is it to remove the spring from the RB 300 arm? Is it something a "Newbie" can do with a little mechanical apptitude?

I think I need a few minutes on the telephone with someone very familier with this arm. Would any of you volunteer, or, do you know a good candidate who would volunteer?
