Rel G2 sub still competitive?

I have a seven year old Rel G2 subwoofer. I’ve just sent the amp off for a repair as it won’t turn on. I’m wondering if the newer technology has advanced enough to justify replacement. The G2 sounds good and blends well with the speakers. I know newer is not necessarily better. Thanks

Yes, both fuses. Thanks. And went over the circuit board carefully while I was on the phone with Rel’s engineer looking for components that were obviously fried. Ain’t none.
It’s a $495 maximum cost for the repair and whatever upgrades are available from the newer amps. I’m looking forward to have it working again. It really does sound great.
Hi Erik. The Rel is the fourth one I’ve had and it outperforms the others by one-thousand percent. I’ve found the right placement for it and it does sound fantastic. I had a Velodyne DD-15 with built in equalization through a microphone. Lots of deep bass and subsonic feel, but it kind of flabbed along behind the music and never really integrated. I traded it for another sub that was horrible. I don’t remember the brand. Sold it and bought two Definitive Technologies next to top of the line models and hated them. The merry go round led me to the Rel and I’ve been very satisfied. Any suggestions on room correction processors? I’m not familiar.
The Rel is is back in action in the new house. Much has transpired since January.
I got the amp back from Rel and the $495 estimate turned into $250. It apparently didn’t need anything major. Today I received a Magic Power Cable and Rel Speakon Cable from Signal Cables. The addition of the two cables ($268 total) made a huge difference in the quality of the bass. Anybody considering these cables, it’s definitely worth it. Talk about “the depth and breadth and height my bass can reach.” I’m there.
