The Rega P3 manual states that the center hub should not be removed. A friend of mine (me) removed it before reading the manual. I can't sleep, I can't eat, did I do any damage?
As long as you didn't spill any oil out of the bearing and didn't put a dirty spindle back into the bearing, you'll be ok. It's not like removing the damping rods from a nuclear reactor or anything.
