Record weights

Do they put harmful pressure on the player's spindle?I'm using a technics sp25 direct drive turntable.I'm thinking of using an audio technica at618 disc stabilizer.Regards Derockster

I have used a AT disc stabilzer for 25+ years on my Denon DP-55K with no adverse effects to the motor. However it will creat a "dish" effect on one side of slightlt warpped discs.
Thanks very much Hhh for your reply to my question especially since I like what i am hearing with the stabilizer in my system.Regards Derockster
It's the bearing you have to worry about. Make sure the design can handle extra weight. Depends on how much weight, too. If it is much less than the existing platter, then you're probably ok.
