RB600 and Benz Cart - Do I use the Plastic Washers

Hi guys, Sort of a dumb question here. My Benz cart came with white plastic washers for the screws on the headshell (they are suppose to be placed between the screws and the headshell). I used the washers as I felt it may have protected the tonaearm from being marred. Would I benefit from removing them, or does it even matter?
