Just read that Levon Helm will be buried next to Rick Danko at the Woodstock Cemetery.
"Levon helm and the RCO-All stars" and "American Son." I think these are his first two, but they are on the same cd.
RIP. Worth watching the episode he appeared on the Elvis Costello Spectacle series. Really good.
Was listening to some of the Ryman and Electric Dirt stuff on You Tube the other night. He definitely still had it,great stuff. Both are available on vinyl. Anyone hear if the vinyl pressings are well done. I believe they are different labels, Ramble at the Ryman is on the SUGAR HILL label.
I have all the ABC LPs shown on Amazon plus a picture disc of the self titled ( with crossed drumsticks). What they don't show is the 1981 self titled release on Capitol EMI.Recorded in Muscle Shoals a strong outing.Amazon is not your only friend.

Wildoats - if you will, what are the titles of the older solo recordings? I have Dirt Farmer and Electric Dirt. Enjoy them very much. Want to get Ramble at the Ryman. Wouldn't mind a couple of others. Thanks in advance.

I thought his older solo stuff was really great too. there's a two cd set of his first two solo albums.
I'm a much bigger fan of Levon Helms than of the Band. Understandably, most of the reactions I've read here and elsewhere reference his work with the Band. I've said it before, and I'll say it again (sadly, I'm realizing it's the last time I'll do so), anyone that's a fan of the Band that HASN'T heard LV's solo output (Dirt Farmer, Electric Dirt, & Ramble At The Ryman) should run, not walk, to get these great records!!
.....all of the above. The Band was truly in a class of their own - and nobody has ever really come along that has even resembled them musically. They were really good. I did read that Robbie Robertson was there at the end for levon. Hopefully to say ; '' I'm sorry '' or possibly out of guilt......
Somewhere I hope Levon is singing with Rick and Richard. What great music those guys made together. Last night I listened to some music by The Band. Bittersweet in many ways.
I feel sadness in my heart today. I did not know Levon personally but he spoke to me many times through his music and I always felt like he was my best friend after hearing him. A true living legend, no longer with us.
I'm sure he's "Up On Cripple Creek" singing and playing the drums.

He was a great musician.

RIP Levon...
I really like him. He shared himself and music till he passed away. Agreed, great music.
