Question for GEM Dandy Polytable owners...

Hi

Looking for more information due to the lack of reviews on the web.

For those that either own or have auditioned a Polytable/Jelco, what have you compared it to or what did this turntable replace? Do you feel it performs well beyond the price like manufacturer states? What other tables does it compare favorably too, and how would you describe its sonic signature?

Also since I'm a print subscriber, which Stereophile was it reviewed in? This will save me time searching for it.
Thanks!

Michael really seemed to like it. What I read out of his review is it seemed to get the midrange right, so it’s a very interesting option. I apologize, just another interested party here. I hope someone can help, but I doubt it. Sadly, I doubt anyone having experience with higher priced tables now has GEM Dandy. Sure hope I’m wrong. My dealer has experience with Jelco, and he says the "D" version 750 is well worth the incremental price increase over the 250. Then of course, George has a new version, where a 12" arm can be used. This does increase the price to around $3K, which I believe is about double the cost of the standard GEM.
I like both the WT Amadeus, and GTA quite a bit. I’ve owned both, and still own the latter. Neither a mk II btw. I’m also looking for a table, both as an upgrade to the GTA, while also keeping my eyes open for something to run in a second system with Croft and Harbeth. The GEM 12" has indeed caught my attention. IMHO, you are on the right track with the GEM, or the WTL for that matter.
