Quality of Vintage Sony 703ES DAC Compared to Modern DAC

Happy new year!
Looking for some input on the following:
I am currently using a vintage Sony 703ES Dac, 1985 vintage. My digital listening is limited to streaming from online music service (Deezer HiFI).   I'm thinking of replacing the Sony with a modern Streamer/DAC/Music server.  My concern is I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water.  This vintage Sony DAC sounds very good; way better than the Bluesound Node 2i (I bypass its onboard dac).  I'd consider getting a stand a lone streamer to use with the Sony Dac if it is worthy.

My question is this:  As far as sound quality and sound quality only, what are Sony's limitations, or in other words, what can a modern dac do that the vintage Sony can't?  For comparison, I'd consider the Lumin D2 or T2.

If Helpful here are the specs for the vintage Sony 703ES: http://www.thevintageknob.org/sony-DAS-703ES.html
Not terribly important but the unit retailed for $2.400 back in1985.
Thanks!

This vintage Sony DAC sounds very good;

Yes it was and still is highly regarded for converting PCM Redbook 16/44, it was an R2R Ladder Multibit dac that uses the "K" selected 2 x PCM53JP-I-K dac chips. But it’s probably due (30 years old) for it’s 20 odd electrolytic capacitors to be changed by now, and will sound better for it.

I’m not into streaming as I’ve yet to hear it’s sound better than my CD/Transport fed MSB discrete R2R dac.

And I think that’s because it’s either compressed, or they use the "later re-releases" of music that I like, which if you go the the Dynamic Range Data website they are nearly always more compressed than the original first release versions.
Sure the later releases are always much louder but more confused because of compression (no quite parts, between the loud ones)

Just type in at the top your artist and album hit search, and see which versions have the most green, then click on the Album name find the cat number and buy it used on ebay for $5

Here’s one I did
