Quad Z2s Owners out there?...

So I just picked up a beautiful pair of Redwood Z2s and I love em! But tonight with the bass up one of them “barked’
like it was blown but I have not had any issues with them for the last week or so since I purchased them unfortunately 2nd hand. These are designed to handle 200 watts and I bought them from an elderly man who had only had them a few months and I can’t imagine he would have blown one of them. Anyone had any experience with these?

Is it only with a certain song or all the music you listen to? Try switching the left/right speaker cables to make sure it is not the amp. Also try to switch the ICs on the source to make sure that the source is fine.
Hi there
I just order a pair of Quad z2 of red woods same as you on last weekend from U.K. and wait for delivery.Would you let quad fan know how you like the sound compared with quad s2?and what amps or pre-amp  drive quad z2 for the best performance.?
Yeah, it sounds like the mid/woof probably hit its stops. Did you literally turn the bass up or was it just a bass-heavy song played loudly? It probably did no harm, but you could switch the speakers with the same song and see if it stays on the same side or play in mono and see if both get maxed out and that’ll give you more info. If you don’t hear anything with more normal music and/or at normal levels you’re probably fine. Nice speakers BTW.
