Duke, I could not agree with you more with all you say here, in fact I even like the old 63 better than the 989, more coherent and a less darkish hue to the sound, which makes it sound more open to these here ears.

Can anybody share some information about the Quad 989's Electrostatics. How loud can they play before tripping? what is the smallest room you can use? What power do they work best with? I have a Jeff Rowlands Model 10, is this a good match? Are there any upgrades for the binding posts?
Has anybody used a Tact RCS 2.0 Pre/room correction with them.
