Proton Amp and Pre-Amps - Mods

I was wondering if anyone knows someone good at modding amps and pre-amps, and if Proton would be a worth-while venture?

I scored some equipment with mint condition chassis for a very nice deal, and with a little work I think I could get some very reasonable sound for the money.

Anyone want to share experiences? DIYers?
