I haven't heard the D38R, but I do hope ProAc managed to improve on the D38, which sounds quite harsh to me (too much high midrange, a bit dry and on the cool side, with a certain lack of body - I had a D25 which sounded warmer and more balanced, apart from its slow and boomy bass)
