Power Cord suggestion(s) for Rogue Cronus Magnum III

Good for you trying some. Unless you can’t live without them you should not buy them.

Speaker cables, analog interconnects, digital interconnects and power cords can all make a difference. At times over the last 50 years as I have pursued high end audio, various cables have made a huge difference. My jaw has dropped from one or more instances in each category.

But it depends on the components you own. The higher quality they are the more sensitive… and of course some are just more sensitive. I always optimize speaker cables first, then interconnects, then power cords.

Typically the most effected piece of equipment for power cords is the amp. I would try three different high end brands and if there is no significant improvement, then rejoice. I would love it if stock cords sounded the same.

By the way my experience is that high tier Nordost sound simply spectacular and low end sound just OK. My experience.

I recommend trying Cardas and AudioQuest. If you have been reading around the forum I am sure you have heard a lot about Audio Quest Hurricane and Dragon. These are probably out of your price range… and probably too much compared to the cost of your amp. If you can borrow one of these you can use it to see what a really good cord can do… then walk down the price levels. Typically a company has a house sound. If you like the sound you can choose the cost appropriate product. Obviously if you can try some in your price range that is great.

I am lucky as I am friends with a dealer so he drops stuff by for me to try just for fun. So I have had the pleasure of thing some expensive stuff.

Thanks for the responses.  I was told most/easiest chord to replace first is power chord on amp/integrated...the Nordost given to me for audition is $2000, and made VERY LITTLE difference over generic stock pc!  The Rogue Cronus very good for the price, was only $3800....I can't see spending that much for a chord on the integrated.  Can't help but wonder if "cheaper" chords will result in even less difference,  Changing speaker wires made a noticeable difference (Nordost Frey 2) but sells for $2950 for a 2m pair....I'm in sticker shock!  Am I crazy that I need to spend this much for revealing wiring on my system?  I thought recommendation is about 15% of total system...any thoughts are appreciated

Yes, 10% - 15% is typical. But very frequently in the category you are in, it can be worth not doing high end interconnects. Save money and apply to component upgrades. I suspect if you doubled the investment in your integrated amplifier or source components the difference in interconnects and cables will become much more profound. Systems are like scientific instruments… the better they get the more sensitive they are. No reason to waste money on stuff that does not increase your musical experience.

When starting out there a lot of ambiguity in what you sense. As your experience and quality of your gear improves the ancillary stuff will make larger and larger differences. Consider yourself lucky for now. Enjoy your system and then if you choose to upgrade your system… recheck to see how much cables etc make a difference.

After trying a couple others without much luck, I put one of these on my Rogue Cronus Magnum and it made a very nice improvement.

I'd try an aliexpress odin 2 facsimile, $80-100 and a product that performs superbly.
