platine motor with nylon thread

I'm running my platine verdier table with the nylon thread and am wondering if the thread needs replacing at any specific interval.Does it's strength or quality wear out with extended use?

If the thread snaps, it just falls down. I've had it happen to me a few times; certainly had no problems yet with it hitting the cart or arm. Charlie

After some time the thread stretches and you need to move the motor unit away from the platter to keep the tension and speed up. With linen,it eventually snaps. With nylon, you can keep going for much longer - just make sure that the thread id taut. Charlie
