Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat

I’m curious about this product from Perfect Path Technologies and would like to hear from those that have experience with it. I’ve bought and used the Total Contact enhancer and like what it does for my system so I’m interested in hearing how this Omega E mat performs.

I payed the full amount for the Omega E mats that will arrive Friday. My amplifiers, SACD players, DAC, and Oppo 203 Blue Ray Player are all on Synergistic Research Tranquility Bases.
I am looking forward to hearing if this new product will improve my system. They are sold with a 30 day return policy so the cost to try is only postage money.
The first one will go inside the circuit breaker box, and the second will initially go on the Pass Lab INT- 60 amplifier.

David Pritchard

I have ordered two Omega E Mats. My systems are already extensively treated with Total Contact- circuit breaker box, power cords, interconnects, wall outlet connections, and inside most components.

This will be a fun and educational project. They come with a 30 day trial so there is ample time to get a feel for how they affect an already tuned system.

David Pritchard

david_ten,
I will be using the Omega E Mat not on top of the Synergistic Research Tranquility base but on top of the component such as the Pass Lab amp.

David Pritchard

My two E Mats arrived today. One was placed inside the circuit breaker box and the other on top of the Pass Lab Int-60 amp. This amp sits on a Synergistic Research Tranquility Base and is connected to a Synergistic Research Active Grounding System. I will take a listen after 48 hours to get a baseline of what the Mats does. The amp is on  24/7.

This will be an interesting experiment.

David Pritchard
Lots of exciting places to try the Mats! All of my components have been treated with a combination of Total Contact+ synergistic Research ECT’s. Except the Pass Lab amp which has not been treated. All components sit on SynergisticResaerch Tranquility Bases and the listening and viewing rooms have Synergistic Research Atmosphere units.
Putting a Mat at the breaker box will potentially help three systems. One home theater system with a 4K video, the headphone system, and lastly the Horn system with the relatively untreated Pass Lab amp.

I will of course be trying other locations but will be slow and take it a step at a time.
Oregon papa:
Yes I use the Active Grounding Block with the headphone system, and another one with the Horn speaker system. The Video system has the original passive Grounding Block. Atmosphere units also in place. Lots of interesting locations to try the Mat.

Another possible location is near or under the crossover network in  multi driver speakers. I am sure to eventually try a mini Mat under my crossovers.

Exciting times for Audiophiles.

David Pritchard
Impressions after first E Mat placed inside the sub breaker panel.
The E Mat is attached to the inside of the outer pannel door so it is not exposed to the outside sun and weather. It is not attached to the metal plate that actually covers the circuit breakers.

I have been following the break in process by watching and listening to Blue Ray movies on my AV system. Forty Five inch Sony 4K TV 2017 model with an Oppo 203 Player ( upgraded with Oppo Mod.com power supply, analog sound board, improved cover to transport mechanism, and SR Blue fuse. Audiophile grade wall outlets, power cords, interconnects, and power conditioner are used. The sub panel individual wire connections- hot, neutral, and ground have all been treated with Total Contact .  Also all cable connections have been treated with Total contact. All in all a system that has had a lot of effort to maximize the audio and visual aspects to watching movies.

I use the wonderful Blue Ray edition of the  movie- The Fifth Element to evaluate changes to my system.

After three days the visual quality is significantly improved. The edges to images are sharper, details like the weave of fabrics easier to see, and the front to back focus of the images in a scene are sharper. There is less blurring during motion sequences. Colors are richer and the black white difference is greater. Movies are more fun to watch visually.

Audio has also improved with better clarity and a better sound stage that matches  the size and depth of what is visually seen.

The E-Mat placed at the whole house circuit breaker position has significantly improved my already optimized AV system.

I next will be evaluating the Mat's effect on the separate audio system and the separate headphone system.

After this Mat has been in this location for seven days, I will add Mats to the components of these three systems to see where additional benefits can be obtained.

I have previously tried several Bybee IQSE in my system and I find the E-Mat to be a better product for my audio-visual enjoyment.
David Pritchard
Concerning the Bybee IQSE:

I tried one inside the circuit breaker box at the same location as the E-Mat.The IQSE certainly did affect the sound. But in my systems the result was too much damping. The sound was less 'alive'. The IQSE seemed to have a greater effect on some aspects of the sound than others aspects. It is less expensive and works well at it's price point. The Tweek Geek was very easy to work with and does sell the IQSE with a 30 day trial. The E-Mat is more expensive and for me does more things right. I am looking forward to how the system sounds and the 4K TV looks  at the 10 day mark with the E-Mat in place.

David Pritchard
My TV system is also plugged into a Synergistic Red duplex. I am definitely experiencing a very satisfying improved 3-D like picture. I will next be trying an E-Mat on top of the Oppo 203 player and then I will try one on the back side of the Sony 4 K TV itself.
Four more Mats on the way and so a lot of fun is in store.
it is good to know that the cablebox is not a critical location for a Mat.

David Pritchard
lak:

I am currently using an E-Mat on top of a PS Audio Dac. I will also try it underneath the DAC is a few days. So far I have confirmed an observation of Oregonpappa that the side with the E-Mat label works better if facing the interior of the component. I found this to be the case with a Pass Lab INT -60 amplifier (no other tweeks to amp except Synergistic Research Blue fuse ) and an OPPO 203 Blue Ray player.

Both pieces of equipment sit on Synergistic Research Tranquility Bases. Both pieces of equipment had significant improvement.

David Pritchard
I just returned from my 94 year old Mother's apartment. "How is the sound from your streaming computer system? It became more open this morning she replied. It is sounding very good. Today is day 4 with the E Mat at the circuit breaker and another one on top of the PS Audio DAC.

For fun we tried the Mat  being front to back, side to side, and label up or down. She heard small differences with each position and settled with lettering facing down toward the DAC and the long direction of the MAT going in a front to back direction.

Tommy Dorsey was sounding good when I left. I have not tried on top of her computer or at her Router - signal is sent by hard wire to computer.

It will be interesting to hear her system at the end of next week.

David Pritchard
Geoff:
Thank you for doing this important experiment with magnetic mats.

I absolutely agree on the benefits of degaussing CD's. The Walker Tailsman, Acoustic Revive, and Furutech degaussers are all effective in improving CD and DVD performance.

Degaussing improves the sound in my systems in addition to the benefit of E-Mats being in place -presently at the circuit breaker box, amplifier, and Oppo DVD player.

David Pritchard
I am impressed with the Omega Mats improving a system over an extended period of time. I placed one mat on the sub panel circuit breaker door June 10 and one on my Oppo 203 DVD player and Pass Lab INT-60 amp on June 18. This week I noticed further improved audio and video improvement with the AV system and  audio improvement with the stereo system.
I am pleased with the results on these three locations and have ordered additional Omega Mats to try with my SACD players, headphone amp, and on the main circuit breaker door.

I have found the improvement generated by each Mat  to be worth their price. It certainly is easier than swapping out power amps (my Pass Lab INT-60 amp does weigh over 100 lbs). Also the break in roller coaster (to me) is less than when comparing power cords and interconnects. Finally the cost to return the Mat with it's 30 day return policy makes it rather fun to try.

David Pritchard
Correction on my installation dates of the Omega E Mats in my systems. The Matt paced at the circuit breaker sub panel and  also the one on the Pass Lab INT -60 amp were installed July 10. The Mat placed on top of the Oppo 203 DVD player was installed July 18.

The quality of the Audio and the Video with the Oppo took a big step up on day 12.

Today I ordered additional mats to install on the dedicated headphone system and to place a Mat on the whole house Circuit breaker panel.

David Pritchard
Well I have paid for 11 Omega E Mats. Six are currently in place and I am awaiting the additional 5. These are installed in 4 different systems. Two stereo systems, one video system, and one headphone system.

I am impressed with the positive results they are bringing to the systems.

David Pritchard
Ozzy:
My Oppo 203 Blue Ray player has been carefully tuned with a Synergistc Research Blue fuse, multiple ECT's inside, Total Contact on all capacitors, chips, and pin connectors. After this was all broken in and stabilized, I added one Bybee IQSE inside the player and located it directly above the digital circuit board. This benefited the audio and visual quality only one small "click" in improvement.

I have since placed an Omega E Mat on top of the player. There has been a greater additional improvement in audio and video. The E Mat caused an immediate change but really began to excel after 12 days of being in the same location.

David Pritchard
jafreeman:

Congratulations on the further improvement of your system with the second Omega E Mat. It is difficult to verbalize the improvement in a system as additional Mats are installed and then become stabilized after being in place for Two weeks. My audio systems are now more emotionally moving and stimulating.Trying to verbalize the why of this effect I will leave to others.

The cost of multiple Mats is considerable but not more than two or three upper tier Power Cords, one or two DACs, or a premium amplifier such as my Pass Labs INT-60.

I am on the Board of Directors of El Paso Pro Musica  whose artistic director is Zuill Bailey (three time Grammy Award winner in classical music). My passion in life is listening to music.  My audio expenditures allow me to have a greater connection to the music I listen to and a greater connection to the artists who create the music. I think the Omega E Mats are an audio bargain.

David Pritchard

Joseph:
I do think your approach is very smart. Take some time to let each Mat achieve it's maximum effect at that location. My results so far indicate to start with the circuit breaker box location for the first Mat as you then will have a beneficial effect on multiple pieces of equipment.
If possible place the Mat at a trial location and then give it at least overnight before any serious listening. I heard differences at 10 hours, three days, and then a significant change at the 12-14 day mark.

Have fun with the Mats! If they improve your listening sessions keep them and if they do not send them back. With the 30 day trial period there is no need for a snap decision for or against. Return postage is cheap.

I do hope  forum readers that stream music will take the opportunity to listen to Zuill Bailey's cello work. A nice CD is his playing cello with David Leisner on acoustic guitar. Recorded in an auditorium and not a studio, the interplay of guitar - cello- and recording venue is very satisfying to me.

David Pritchard

hifiman5:
I also think the circuit breaker box is an excellent location for a first Mat. If possible place it in the circuit breaker after a listening session and then let it start to equilibrate overnight before your first listen. I think you will hear additional changes at about 3 days, and then a blossoming of sound  at 12-14 days. I think you  should have a firmly stabilized system at 21 days.
I found this time table also applied to visual improvement in my video system.Sharper images, more 3D sensation, and more vivid colors. Old black and white movies also benefit from the Mat.

Ronrags:

I have not tried the Mat with my tube amplifiers, but my circuit breaker was completely treated with Total Contact before I added a Mat at this location. The Mat gave additional benefits. The Mat certainly has a positive effect with Pass Lab amplifiers.

David Pritchard

Continuing the idea of improving one’s Audio-Visual System: Yesterday I upgraded the wall outlet to the AV system to a Synergistic Research Blue outlet. Another improvement to movie watching satisfaction. Picture quality improved and Audio dynamics especially improved.
The combination of using Omega E Mats and Synergistic Research Blue outlets is most satisfying.
David Pritchard
I have tried and owned several Bybee products for my Audio system. I do find the Omega E Mat to have a greater positive effect on my music enjoyment.
Like several other posters on this thread , I have found the Mat to improve the sound over the course of several weeks. I also agree that several Mats placed in a system adds progressive improvement.

Over the course of the last two years of careful equipment evaluations, I have found that major audible improvements can be obtained with upgrading to Synergistic Research Blue Fuses, Synergistic Research wall outlets, Total Contact, and finally and importantly the Omega E Mat.

The magnitude of improvement using these devices is significant and is greater than when I switch out my Pass Lab Amplifier for the Art Audio Tube Amplifier.

David Pritchard
hifiman:

I am glad to read the Omega E Mat has improved you audio system and your Television picture. This has also been my experience. If your family watches a lot of DVD's, a Mat on top of the DVD player gave my system a further improvement to audio and video.

David Pritchard
The Synergistic Research Blue Outlet is a wonderful upgrade and only gets better over the next 10-14 days. The E Mat especially placed at thecircuit breaker box does improve the sound and pictures of all outlets in your house.
I do think the best under $1000.00 system upgrade for most Audiophile’s is buying an E Matt + a Blue outlet. The amount left over will Buy a nice bottle of wine.
David Pritchard
I did find the Mats to sound slightly different whether the logo is pointing up or down. My suggestion is just to flip the Mat over after it has been in that place for 10 days and see is there is a difference. Some locations seem to have more of a change in sound when flipped than other locations.

David Pritchard
Well I have treated many of the electrical contacts  in my Honda Accord (including the battery terminals and speaker terminals ) with Total Contact and it did make a difference. I can not easily get to the electronics so no good way to try an Emat at that location.

Putting 18 Synergistic Research HFT's on the interior of the car then made a big difference in the car's acoustics.

Streaming Spotify via my I Phone to the Honda Apple link USB port now gives me great sounding - commercial free music of my choice while driving.

It does sound great.

David Pritchard
Today three more E- Mats arrived for Mother's system. She already has one on the apartment circuit breaker box, one on top of the Pass Lab DAC, and one on top of the Pass Lab First Watt amp. All component's are already on Synergistic Research Tranquility Bases with Synergistic Research active grounding.

The first Mat went under the Computer which streams music to the DAC. Within one song she commented the music was more relaxed. It was fun to listen to the music develop an increase sense of flow over the next hour of listening.

The other two Mats were placed on top of the Sonos Sound base where her OLED TV sits. At this location hopefully the Sound Base and the TV picture will benefit from the E Mats. The sound and picture of this system will begin to be evaluated starting tomorrow.

Good music and good company -  a most wonderful evening.

David Pritchard

Twenty Four hours after two E- Mats were placed on top of Mother's Sonos Sound Base, her audio visual system has taken a definite step up in improvement. The sound is more relaxed and there is much better 3D effect to match the image on the TV screen -a 55 inch LG  OLED. This TV sits on top of the Sound Base, and by placing the E Mats on top of the Base it was hoped the Mats would have an additional beneficial affect on the picture image.

Indeed the image has significantly improved. There is no grain in the picture, images are sharper, colors are richer. The screen images display more emotion. Mother with her advanced vision loss due to Macular Degeneration could detect the improved picture. " The picture is richer. It has more Pop".

The Omega E- Mat is a wonderful product!

David Pritchard

grannyring4:
Congratulations on doing that experiment !  Are you using the Mats anywhere else? Have you tried the Synergistic Research Blue outlets and fuses, as in my system the combination of the SR Blue products and the Omega Mats is quite impressive. I bet your system improves even over the next several days.

David Pritchard
The combination of Blue outlets, Blue fuses, Total Contact, and Omega Mats is hard to beat. I just ordered 3 more Mats and a second syringe of Total Contact. I would not want to be without these 4 products in any of my systems.

Today is the last day of the September Synergistic Research outlet + fuse special. Remember they sell with a 30 day return policy.

David Pritchard
uberwaltz:
When using the Total Contact do not forget all the connections in the Circuit breaker box. I think I did 76 connections total. Of course the whole house breaker was removed during the application. Use very small amounts at each connection and enjoy!

David Pritchard
uberwaltz:
Yes you can do the breaker box and your system with one tube of Total Contact. Remember you want a THIN coat of Total Contact at each intersection you treat. I did my system in 5 stages doing about 20 contact points each session.

David Pritchard
Speaking of the Omega mats I have just ordered three more. " tommy lion" has taken one approach of putting the Mats in place all at the same time. He has proven that the "just go for it approach " works and will get a system to that highest level in the minimum amount of time.

Since the Mats have been available I have been placing them in my systems two to four Mats at a time. I have not yet tried Mats under the speakers, or on top of the Synergistic Research Power Conditioners.
All of my audio components sit on Synergistic Research Tranquility Bases. All components have had a further improvement when one or two Mats were placed on top of each piece of equipment.

The break in phase of putting Mats in a system is real but not so severe as to make listening to music not enjoyable.

My feeling about how to best approach a system is as follows. If just starting out, buy one Mat and one syringe of Total Contact. In my opinion this will be the most cost effective improvement one can make to any system. Place this first Mat at the Circuit Breaker Box. Treat the connections at the Breaker Box, the wall outlets that feed the audio system, and then the various interconnects. It will take more than one session to treat all these connections. Put the Total contact on spareingly - a thin coat is better than a thick coat. During the time you are pasting the system with Total Contact the Mat will be in place 'energizing' .

The system will start to sound better 24 hours after installation of the Mat or an  application of Total Contact. At 3 days a higher level is noticeable and at 10 days the system will have a sense of ease but with improved detail that is most satisfying.

A more rapid but middle of the road approach to system improvement is to order four Mats and one syringe of Total Contact. This would allow Mats for the music source, amplifier, and two mats for the Circuit Breaker Box.

So far the Mats and Total Contact have improved the sound and also video picture quality in all the systems I have tried them in. And since the Mats are sold with a 30 day return policy this is just a plain fun audiophile experiment to undertake!

jafreeman:
I agree with your Mat placement on large CD players, that two Mats side by side give additional benefits compared to a single Mat on a CD player. A single Mat sounds good but using two Mats sounds even better. This also applies to the Oppo Blue Ray players. One Mat improves both sound and picture, two Matts side by side on the Oppo has an even greater beneficial effect.

David Pritchard
kedoades:
A very good approach you are using. The Mats will continue to improve the sound with a sense of better finesse over the next two to three weeks.

I am now trying  two Mats under a Synergistic Research Power Cell 12 conditioner. I first gave a one hour trial with a Mat on top of the unit and then tried it under the Power Cell. Under the Unit showed more potential. It has taken two days for the sound to improve but now I am beginning to hear improvement. The big in size Pass Labs INT-60 amp likes two Mats placed side by side instead of in a stacked position.

With my dedicated headphone unit I am also trying additional units. I just placed a Mat under the Synergistic Research Power Cell 8 unit and a Mat under a Synergistic Research Transporter (this unit replaces the wall warts SR uses with their older lines of cables).

It will be interesting to listen to these music systems over the next two weeks to hear what changes take place.

David Pritchard
I agree with what fleschler  has experienced. The installation of E - Mats reveals that one's present system can be significantly improved without upgrading components .And unlike auditioning or buying a new component , placing a E - Mat in a system is quick and easy.
And best of all , if you do not like the Mat, send it back for a refund.

Today was a fun E - Mat day, and it has been a fun E-Mat week!
I listed the locations of the new Mats in the above post and today I had a critical listening session. Clearly a meaningful improvement. So now there are Mats under or on top of all components in the horn system and the headphone system. I have not tried them under the speakers yet. My crossovers are located in the bottom of the cabinets so this location will eventually be tried.

I now thought about the power coming into the house. I already have two Mats installed on the inside of the outer door panel of the sub breaker box. I also have two mats placed next to each other on the main breaker panel.

Under the actual Electric Company's Power Meter they have a locked box that then sends all power to my main breaker box. I attached one Mat on the outside of this box. Kept the mat in it's water resistant plastic bag and covered that with 3-M  External Painters tape to block the sun from causing any damage. The main breaker box is tall enough that I could add a third Mat inside this panel to now cover all the breakers for the house.

Today was fun because these two Mats caused an immediate improvement in clarity, harmonic texture and emotional impact.

Congratulations on improving your system. For a Christmas present to yourself, I hardily suggest the current Synergistic Research special of - buy a SR Blue wall outlet and get a Blue fuse for free.

Who needs another ugly sweater for Christmas.

David Pritchard
That is the same response I have if I take the top off my SACD player that has two Mats on it. There is a marked change when the top is replaced and by the next day the player is again sounding good. After several days the sound takes on even more relaxed feel to it.

Nice touch to treat the battery terminals. Total Contact also works well on car battery terminals.

David Pritchard
mac48025
I got a major improvement in sound after treating my crossovers with Total Contact. I treated all the connections to and from the crossovers, the wire connections to the individual speaker drivers, and coated the capacitors and resistors . I also put an Omega E- Mat under each crossover.
It did take 3 days to sound better and then was significantly improved at two weeks.
It is definitely worth the time and effort to treat your crossovers.
DavidPritchard
Golf rules:
Thank you for your comprehensive report on your use of Total Contact. It makes for a good check list to treat one’s System.
David Pritchard
Frank:
Glad you have started treating the electrical panel with Total Contact. I do hope you will go ahead and treat every connection in the panel you can reach. The hot, neutral, and even the grounds all will benefit. This includes even the non audio circuits. It is a lot of connections to do but it is worth the effort! About 80 connections for my panel.
Don't forget to find the connection to the main ground - this connection really does benefit from Total Contact.
David Pritchard
Concerning crossovers and Mat placement:
I did not have improvement on top of my 48 inch tall loudspeakers. I did put an Omega Mat inside the speaker cabinet so the crossover sits on the Mat. This was effective. I would put the smaller Alpha Cards as close to the crossover as possible.
David Pritchard
I have ordered some Alpha Cards. I am going to evaluate these location: on the modem- router, cell phone, main fuse box of the Honda Acord, and the incoming box where the telephone service enters the house.
I think this will be most interesting as the house and systems are already extensively treated.
David Pritchard
My Omega Mats and Alpha Cards arrived Thursday and I had time to install all but 1 Alpha card on Friday. First I placed an Alpha Card inside the IPhone protector box. Indeed the processing speed is now noticeably faster, but better yet streaming music (Qobuz CD quality) is noticeably improved. Highly recommended placement location.

Next location was the telephone wire incoming boxes- a total of two different boxes outside the house. This is for my internet connection - CenturyLink. First box had large coax size cables x 2- here I wrapped the two cables with an Omega Mat placed inside the service box. The second phone service box is a small box mounted on the house exterior wall. Here I placed an Alpha Card inside the box. I then put an Alpha card on my Router, and finally I put an Alpha Card oh the external power supply to the Sony 4K TV.
Today there is an obvious improvement in the TV Picture and Sound and a significant improvement in streaming music.

Finally I added a second Omega Mat to Mother's Synergistic Research Power Cell 10 and the last Alpha Card was put on her external power source to the computer she streams music with. Big improvement in sonic qualities in her system.
David Pritchard

Well I did tell my Mother what the Omega Mat and the Alpha card cost and she said she is worth it! And She most definitely is!
David Pritchard
There is no doubt in my mind that an Omega Mat placed at the circuit breaker box gives outstanding improvements to both audio and video systems.

At my house and Mother’s apartment we experienced what fleschler just described.
Both my Mother and myself thought the improvement to the 4K OLED TV(LG brand) and 43 inch Sony 4K TV was significant and worthwhile.
Unlike some Tweek’s- the Omega Mat is easily removable, so if you move take it with you. Also it is easy to install and remove. If you do not like it send it back.
Return postage is less than $8:00.
It is a fun experiment to perform.
David Pritchard
A very effective place to put the small Alpha cards is on any Wall Warts that are in your audio circuit. Very impressive in the improved sonic effect.
Ozzy- On my circuit breaker box I found two side by side to cover all the circuits to be the most effective. I did eventually add two more to even greater benefit.
David Pritchard
ozzy:
I am glad you are using the Omega Mats. I would recommend the next step is to buy a syringe of the Total Contact, and treat all connections you can reach in the circuit breaker box (with the whole house breaker turned off of course).
At my house I treated about 76 connections. Try to also treat the main ground connection and if possible the circuit breakers that are involved with the audio system. I did it in three sessions as to not get overly tired and make a mistake. I did one wire at a time as to not re- hook up any thing wrong.

This will really augment the good effects you are getting with the Omega Mats.
David Pritchard
Yesterday I pasted Total Contact on the inner surface of the top lid to the Pass Lab Int-60 Amplifier. I am already using four Omega Mats sitting on top of the amplifier and a Synergistic Research Blue fuse .

There is a tremendous Synergistic effect of these three upgrades on the amplifier’s performance. Simply stated the music is now more fun to listen to and more emotionally involving.

Now one has a way to fine tune a wonderful product with three great products. You do not have to envy Tube amp owners and their ability to roll vacuum tubes.
And if you do not like the change , the Mats and the fuse are removable, and the Total Contact can be wiped off with an alcohol swab.

It really is a fun time to be an Audiophile!

David Pritchard
Grannyring;
I did spend a fair amount of effort on Mat placement. The difference was very small but with a single Mat I prefer the Mat’s logo facing the equipment. With two Mats I have them placed with magnet side facing magnet side.
David Pritchard
Bike frame and designs are very analogous to audio systems in that vibrations, storage and release of energy, how stiff, how flexible, measured improvement, and rider perceived improvement are all at play.
Especially fun was Time trial racing while riding a carbon fiber recumbent in the early 2000’s. At speeds over 16 mph aerodynamics are the major cause of drag.
David Pritchard
