Perfect Path "Solutions" (PPS) eMat

Does anyone know the intricate details of how these most current PPS eMats differ, aside by appearance, from the previous two generations of PPT eMat & eMat+?.any insight will be greatly appreciated...

Thanx! Mooncrikit

eMats were good for what they were, see my review. There's way better stuff now though.

You’re right about the ears, Tom. A lot of the most prolific posters here don’t have them. This frustrates them no end, and they go and take their anger out on the rest of us.

Please don’t go posting links like that. Not that any of the wanna-bees around here will get it or figure anything out, that won’t happen, not in a million years. But this is the interzones where anyone can find it, and we like the way things are going just fine so let’s not screw it up, okay? She will get there when she’s ready, I have no doubt of that.

As for what and why, I already wrote a very informative post on the subject. It was completely disregarded, as I knew it would be. The one who knows got it, and that is good enough for me. The rest were left befuddled, and so much the better. That is their natural state anyway. Let us not even try and enlighten them. They won’t take the hand that is offered. They won’t understand even if they do. And no one appreciates anything given for free anyway.

They can earn it, just like we did. Until then, let them remain in darkness.
Welcome artemus_5 to the club! You make a great point about sugar and salt- and not being curious because, know-it-all. But unfortunately people like mijostyn are so deep in denial they refuse to acknowledge even the most compelling evidence.

The comments from impartial listeners are right there on my System page. One of them, Deborah, she was listening with her eyes closed when I silently made a change. She heard it immediately, opened her eyes to see what was going on. She had absolutely no idea or expectation of anything, just sitting there listening, and she heard it. Read the comments!

https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367

mijostyn knows this. It's been posted before. For sure he knows it. So do all the others. Whole slew of stories just like this- with Cones, cable elevators, the circuit breaker trick, on and on. The only thing I can say to them is, it's not just a river in Egypt!

Then there's my wife. She hardly ever will sit still and listen. But she hears just fine. She has no idea what I am doing, or if I am doing anything at all. Oblivious. Yet it is amazing how many times I do something and she immediately notices and asks what did I do this time??!

A couple times it was Mats. Opened speakers up, pasted crossover caps and all the wires with TC. Put Mats around the crossover, taped along internal wires, and wrapped around speaker magnets. Altogether it was less than one Mat and some tiny fraction of a ml of TC to treat both speakers, but she heard it and was stunned. Eyes wide open.

These are not made up stories. The few of us who know, we know. This technology brings a sense of realism simply not achievable any other way. I know. Heard plenty of systems that cost so much, mine would not even cover the sales tax on theirs. They have some good things going, to be sure. Not saying mine's perfect. All kinds of faults all over the place. But eerie sense of realism just ain't one of em. Can't touch that. Thanks to this stuff. That deniers want to say doesn't even exist.

If you are ever in the Seattle area and can make time, you are always welcome to come hear for yourself. The longer you wait the better it gets but then after you leave it gets better still so don't let that put you off! ;)
mahgister- Electronic design is mature for the last 60 years.... It is installation of the system knowledge that is lacking for most people not the choice of their speakers or amplifier....
You have a keen eye my friend- and ear.

  • "Frank, you are too kind. He is the one, probably just about the only one, I would have to disinvite."

Not me. I’d love to have the guy over for a listening session. Within the first few notes, he would have a look on his face as though he had just eaten a crap sandwich. No doubt he would try to save face by finding fault with the system, but once the session was over, he would leave and never be able to forget what he had heard. And the best part? He would try to match the sound somehow but would fail miserably, and would be chasing it for the rest of his arrogant little life. :-)

By the way Miller, I still laugh every time I think about your late-night phone call when your greeting was ... "Frank ... I had to call someone who understands!" That was truly a classic.

Frank.

That's the problem in a nutshell. All these different things we try, everything from components and cables to HFT and PPS, they all improve the sound in ways that we talk about in very similar terms. Imaging, detail, dynamics, extension, etc. But they also improve the sound in ways that are also somehow different. The Gate and Total Contact are very similar in character to each other, and sort of similar yet very different than the improvement brought by anything else.

There really is no explaining why. We can hardly even describe how. But we sure do know it when we hear it! It's that spine-tingling sensation of a reality. Lately I've been using Townshend Pods and they do get me some of that. But there again the nature of the change is somehow subtly different.

The beauty of it is they all go together. Nothing clashes, everything adds.

Nor do we have the problem so many others talk about, where they think the system got better but then complain how certain records all their faults are revealed and they are now hard to listen to. Every single one of my records sounds so much better than before it is hard to believe.

I know it. You know it. I know that you know it. Pity some of these so-called audiophiles can't get that. Question is, the one in particular, are you really so sure he would even know it when he hears it? Would he even hear it? I don't think so.
Don't let this mad devil get to you mahgister, he is arrogant beyond belief and incapable of any thought other than how to insult everyone else while aggrandizing himself.

He misses everything we love about music. Notice he never, ever talks in terms of how things sound to him. Anyone like you, me, Frank, anyone good at listening, that is how we talk. We talk about how it sounds. How it sounds in our rooms right here in the real world. All the arrogant clown ever talks about is how it can't because, reasons.

Listeners like us, we learn what we can, buy what we can, build what we can't buy. But mostly we try and listen, throw out what doesn't work and keep whatever does. Regardless of what it was or who said it or how big a degree they have. If it sounds better we do it. If it doesn't we don't.

Here we are enthusiastically engaged in the pursuit of better sound, and we have the temerity to judge our success at getting better sound by.... enjoying the better sound we get. Sound his tin ear can't even hear. No wonder the poor man is seething in rage all the time. So relax. Let him go. Not worth your time. Certainly not worth mine.

The only non-PPT enhanced system I've ever heard that came close to the kind of realism we are getting was Randy Cooley's room (Optimal Enchantment) at one of the audio shows. Randy always plays tasteful music during his demonstrations. He was using all of the ARC reference stuff, the big Basis turntable, and Vandersteen's best speakers. The retail value of Randy's demo system had to be several hundreds of thousands of dollars. And yet, my modest Legacy Signature IIIs are pumping out sound like that. Even better actually.

Frank

That must have been some setup. Imagine if he had even just a little of the good stuff in there! That's what gets me. When you get up into the stratosphere level of funding I would sure hope the sound is to die for. When in reality more often than not it is merely impressive. People who haven't heard simply do not know. That is why I am so keen on getting people to come hear, and then also to post comments.

All anyone has to do is read my system comments. That's not me. That's other audiophiles. When you read the comments from a guy who is into digital and looks askance at analog and yet is saying things like While I was there I was wishing for a more analytical sound but when I got home I was really missing that sound he was getting, you and I know what he's talking about. But no one else does.

Sad to say, utter complete lack of knowledge never stops them spewing their unfounded opinions, more often than not as fact.

And here you are again, passing judgment on something you haven't personally experienced. You didn't hear Randy's demo system, and you certainly have never heard my system either.

If you're ever in my area ... Southern Californa, Ventura County specifically, you're welcome to come over for a listening session. The only requirement is that you don a triple layer of adult diapers prior to the session beginning. I don't like stains on the ceiling and carpet.

Frank

Frank, you are too kind. He is the one, probably just about the only one, I would have to disinvite.
My Legacy Signature IIIs have every available surface area covered in PPT Mats. Yep, it looks weird, but the improvement in sound was really significant and well worth the effort. I listen in a low-light environment, so the mats on the speakers don’t bother me at all.

Last night the system had Janice Ian front and center ... almost like I could reach out and touch her. Also, I listened to a private recording of the L.A. Phil performing Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto transferred directly from the master tape. It was like I was being transported right into the concert hall ... and the piano was dead-on tonally. Simply amazing.

Frank

That's the most amazing part, that spine-tingling feeling of "it's right there!" Just can't get that any other way. Not that I have found. And I have tried a LOT of different ways!

Isn't it funny though, that guy, he's actually getting close, but never will get there because of his awful attitude. Won't ever even know what we're talking about. Sad. And yet, hilarious!
So after hearing Frank tell me they work great on speakers I tried it and sure enough they do. But having a Mat taped on the side looks dumb, even for me, and besides the outside of the cabinet is pretty far from the drivers and wires. So the drivers came out and the Mats were cut up and wrapped around the driver magnets. Huge improvement. Much better.

A magnet when you think about it is nothing more than a static electromagnetic field. No different in principle from the fluctuating electromagnetic field we call music. No idea what your small magnets are doing but around great big speaker magnets they are great. Worked great on the Talons, working great on the Tektons.
Einstein was an iconoclast. Not just me saying it either. Do a search. An iconoclast is one who breaks down old ideas. You old idea guys can carp all you want about why he's there. I'm TELLING you why he's there!

There's basically two kinds of people here: Ones who listen, and ones who blather. The ones who listen tell others what they hear. The ones who blather tell others what they think. If only they could hear, then they could participate. We are after all audiophiles. Literally those who love sound. They are technophiles, those who love technology.

Poor saps, don't even know they are on the wrong site.
What gives audio2design the right to diss any product he choses without listening to it on grounds of superior insights, however acquired? Shouldn‘t the Moderator intercede on this type of counterproductive behaviour? I for one am fed up.

You’re not the only one. Almost everyone somewhere somehow manages to post something useful and worth reading. Most of the people in audio have little if any formal training in the field. Some do, sure. But you would be surprised how many of the very best in the business learned it all by listening and trial and error. Whatever engineering, acoustics, electrical knowledge or whatever they need they learned as and when they needed along the way. Hang around this site long enough, get good enough at doing this, you will come to realize as I have that formal education is one of the bigger stumbling blocks. The man who thinks he has all the answers has after all no reason to go looking.

That’s our empty suit. He posted his resume, as if anyone cares, which it turns out is all perfectly unrelated to home audio. Poor guy didn’t even notice the question he was answering was a diagram of a recording studio. The poor OP who came looking for help, you kind of expect he might miss something like that. For the guy who parades his superior education and professional experience to miss it, well what does that do but show him to be an empty suit? Empty as they come.

Except maybe for being full of himself.

mooncrikit, They changed the name. They changed the stickers. End of story.

Right.

Frank and I are two of a very select small group who actually knows what they’re talking about. Based both on extensive use of the products as well as lots of nice long talks with the people involved in developing them. Frank already confirmed I know what I’m talking about. Now let me reiterate neither of us nor anyone else who knows is about to be telling you or anyone else any of the information you seem so keen on getting. Nor will Krissy. You will be no better off in that respect than now.

What I can tell you, what Frank just said, what anyone can learn by reading my review- they are not refrigerator magnets! That’s actually the first thing I thought myself. Being completely opposite your average poster here rather than bloviating and pontificating and acting the fool I went and got a few refrigerator magnets and tried them out. Again, read my review! Compete fail!

Not only are they NOT refrigerator magnets, but if they were they would make the sound WORSE not better! Try it yourself if you don’t believe me. Always say that. Hardly anyone ever does. So much more satisfying to be like the empty suit pretending to know. Head so empty one day its gonna implode like one of those cool science experiments. Closest to science he will ever get.

Sorry for the attitude but the fact of the matter is you can learn everything you need to know by buying the stuff and using it. Anything beyond that is worth exactly zero, unless you are trying to rip them off by replicating it for yourself. Already told you everything there is to know. Only as usual no one is interested in the truth. The signal is not what you think it is. If it was Frank and I would have normal pedestrian level systems just like everyone else. Instead of what Frank said:

with Tim and Krissy’s help, we have turned our audio systems into magic music machines. The results have to be heard in order to be believed.

Indeed. All that matters. All you need to know.
Well said, mooncrikit, and thanks. Won’t do much good. You’re new so won’t know this but this site has a dedicated core of thread-wreckers. This is one the more despicable ones. We had one even worse and finally managed to banish him only to find his slot filled by this one. Sad. So sad.

In order that you get where I am coming from please have a look, actually no please study my system https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/8367

This system is chock full of the stuff you are asking about. Before going into what little I am able to reveal you really should study the system and comments from those who have heard it such as:

The imaging was so good that I felt like the vocalist was performing right in front of me and that I could reach out and touch them.
Chuck played a variety of genres so I was able to hear several different instruments and they all sounded very distinct...even the Piano!
During the middle of one song (I had my eyes closed) ,Chuck took the cables off the Cable Elevators; I immediately heard the sound become distorted and muddy.

Did you catch that last line? Eyes closed. No idea what I was doing. Heard it.
This alone blows away the BS of those such as the empty suits who do nothing all day but bash this stuff that others so obviously are able to hear. Makes you wonder if behind all their rage isn’t good old fashioned jealousy.

Here’s another one:
My listening impression was all the detail and nuances were presented to my ears in a most unique way. Unique to me because it was so far above any system I had heard including the last set of Monitor Audio Gold with a Prima Luna Integrated. I enjoyed hearing everything but was most shocked at Fleetwood Macs "Landslide"
Hearing it so many times in the past and then not recognizing the intro because of the detailed soundstage. Then Chuck let Stevie Nicks sneak into the room and begin the vocals dead center right in front of me and the recognition set in.

In case you don’t know that PL is a much better amp than mine and those Monitor Audio Gold speakers are almost twice the price. In other words a lot of why my system sounds so good- and it does sound freaking good! - is exactly these tweaks you are asking about.

Okay so with my credibility thus established- already told you just about all I can. Well technically could tell you a whole lot more. But sometimes one of the ways you get to learn a lot of cool stuff is for everyone to know you are a) credible and b) ethical. As in, not about to go blabbing proprietary info all over the interweb. Which is what this particular loser seems to think he can goad us into doing. Not happening.

What I can tell you is this is entirely new, original, and proprietary. The Mats that are out there are all almost exactly the same material, which is NOT any of the BS the blatherer thinks, and they sound so much alike I’ve never heard any difference. There’s some eCards I tried that one was silver the other copper, the copper was ever so very slightly warmer. No one would ever know other than side by side, and a lot not even then.

The composition of what goes into this stuff I am not even going to hint at. What I will say though is what totally triggers the haters, and that is what it does or how it works.

What we think of as the signal is not just electrons moving in conductors. Its not just current in wire. Its mostly fields. Fields that emanate in 3D and off to infinity. That’s not new-agey BS that’s science. Electromagnetic fields radiate off into infinity. Intensity falls off with distance but never really goes to zero.

Okay so this is why the geometry of cables, and the insulator around a cable matters. Synergistic Research made cables for many years with Active Shielding, essentially a sheath with 30VDC on a mesh wrapped around the cable. Still have some. Makes a huge improvement.

Well now, what if you take some material known to have interesting outer electron shell properties and put that near your component? I mean, besides the empty suits head explodes?

Obviously I know

What you know or do not know is one thing. What you write however is quite another. Based on what you just wrote, what theaudiotweak just said is patently objectively unambiguously true. You know nothing. Absolutely nothing. Worse, what you have said is all false. There’s a few of us who absolutely do know what we’re talking about. You are NOT one of us. Furthest thing from it.

No wonder I get people PM me asking WTF is up with this clown? Meaning you. In no time flat you have established yourself as one of if not the biggest most pompous empty suits ever to soil this site.

That is more than enough. I am done with you now. Spew whatever you want. Won’t be reading it.
Seriously, you will have a hard time discerning any difference in terms of sound. Anything beyond that is impossible to say without getting into the details of exactly what is in there. Which we don't know. And you can trust me on this - wouldn't say if we did.
The same, only better. No difference in terms of what they do or how they're used or where they work. I have them all, eCards too, and they are all the same in terms of sound.

Mats by the way can be bent, folded, rolled, cut up, you name it. They work great on a lot of stuff but seem especially good around speaker drivers, speaker cables, power outlets, any place with a lot of fluctuating power.
