Does anyone have this amp and can you please describe the sound? Have you heard it and and did you like it?

Thanks!

I'm interested as well. It seems like a cross between the First Watt products and the .8 series. Nelson was able to reduce the transistors from three down to two.  Based on his website comments his comments, he seems pretty darn happy with it.

It's my understanding that Pass Labs will be manufacturing the First Watt stuff now. Not a bad thing as it should allow for a lot more of 'em.

He should be. Long term stability and quality in the way he wants it to be, in a product that is to be handled by anyone, with two simply implemented transistors.... is not as easy as it may seem to the uninitiated.

Quite a lot,
Big diff. Between even the xa30.5 and the xa30.8.

I've owned both at the same time.Read the specs.

Kenny.

Three stages, DF is about 700, high current, high slew, .00x% distortion,
40 uV output noise, big Class A envelope, 25 watts into 8, 100 watts into 2.

is the xa25 superior to the xa30.5? how about the xa30.8?

His amps are now getting on the low side (20-26db) of what used to be normal gain (28-32db).
Doing this he can utilise more of the gain that preamps have to offer, and maybe leave a gain stage out of the amp/s now.
This is good as the s/n ratio will be better, and your not throwing away the gain from the preamps.
Down side is, passive volume controls maybe won’t have enough volume for them, unless the source has more that the customary 2v output.

Cheers George
I wouldn't expect the FW production moving to Pass to mean more amps. Some of those things are very time consuming to dial in. I suspect the 4 feedback circuits in the F7 complicate that to a new level.
Gentlemen,

The Six Moon website review on the XA25 was posted today and comes to the same conclusions that I did in my review.  Sarjan's review is fun and very detailed in a wonderful way and does compare the XA-30.8 with the XA25 in his system.  Take a look I think it a great read.
Stereophile also posted their review of the XA25. Somewhat like I said elsewhere, it's got many of the virtues of the F5 with more authority due to the three gain stages over 2 and the use of power JFETs on the outputs.
