Over current message?

I fired up my system today and got an over current message on my CD player. The CD plays CDs fine but all of a sudden has an issue with the iPad plugged into its USB input. The player is a Marantz 6006. I use it to accept the iPad USB output and then use its optical out to my DAC. 
Has anyone seen this before and perhaps know how to fix it?

The issue is that the USB port is a charging port, but the iPad wants more juice than it can deliver.

Try charging your iPad fully first, as well as turning the display down or off.
