Output of DVD or CD with a DAC

Help!!!
I don't understand how to wire in a DAC. I understand that the digital output of the player goes into the DAC, it is then converted to analog. Does this DAC output then go into a line input on my Pre Amp? How then does the multi ch output (SACD) function? Do those connections remain the same? How then does a Dolby or DTS DVD decode 5.1 surrond? Sorry to be so dense, but I can't find a complete explanation anywhere. Thanks in advance.

STARTED DISPUTE. DID NOT COMPLY WITH DECISION.
OWES ME $. VERY RUDE AND UNREASONABLE.
BUYER BEWARE. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Yes, the DAC analog out (R&L) then goes to a line input on your preamp. SACD cannot be played through a digital out, and SACD DACs are not on the market (yes, there may be a few exceptions). Most DACs are intended for 2 channel music, and not intended to decode DTS or Dolby (as opposed to Digital surround processors). However, surround processors will decode DD and DTS as well as act as DACs for 2 (or more) channel PCM signals, but generally do not do as good of a job on the latter as dedicated DACs. Hope this helps.
