I own an Ortofon OM10 but otherwise have no direct experience with either of these cartridges.
Based on what I've read, however, the 2M Black seems to be widely considered as serious competition to MC carts up to $1500. Given its higher output than LOMC it should give you a lower noise floor and resultant better dynamics.
Neil Gader at Abso!ute Sound gave it a rave review. See an excerpt here. I have the Product of the Year issue around somewhere; I'll see what it has to say about the Black. I read the Gader review several months ago.
