Opinions Creek Classic 5350SE vs. Rotel RX-1052

I have a bad case of upgradophilia and have been advised to treat with moderation. It all started when I added a Hydra to the system. I currently have a pair of Dynaudio 52SE speakers, a Rotel RX-1052 reciever and RCD 1072 CD player. I also use a VPI HW19Jr. TT with a Dynavector 10X5 cartridge. I was very happy until I added the Hydra and Shunyata power cords. Now my little speakes sound 10feet tall, deep tight base, tremendous detail and greatly expanded depth of soundstage. I want more. I don't have a lot of money but some. I am considering replacing the Rotel, a very fine reciever with a new Creek Classic 5350SE. Any thoughts? Also do you think that this amp would support a pair of Special 25's down the road. And perhaps more importantly, is there a 12 step program for this affliction. Thanks, Dav
I own the 5350 and run a pair of Von Schweikert VR-1s. Not quite as demanding of an amp but not easy either. I am very very happy with the Creek. I didn't listen to the Rotel although a friend has similar separates from Rotel and is happy. I don't think you'll go wrong with either, but I wouldn't trade my Creek for anything else! I love it. I have a pair of Dynaudio 70s in another room and am tempted to try the Creek with them just for fun some day! It is very clean, quiet and detailed. It doesn't have a balance adjustment, but I don't mind about that. The headphone amp is quite good. It runs warm but not hot. It is heavy and very well made. Good luck!
I think the creek is in a whole different league in regards to transparency, detail, nuances, if these things are important to you. I have demo-ed the creek with different gear than my own, and was quite impressed when it was fed analog from VPI Scout and played through entry level Vandersteens. I am thinking to take the plunge myself downsizing from separates... although I'm very happy with the sound that I am now getting from my system these days.. where is that 12 step program...
Well, I hooked up the classic. Wow, wow, wooow wow wow. Boy do these little Dynaudio 52SE speakers have base, tight full feel it in your chest base, and highs, bright and clear. I can hear a guitar string vibrate. and mids and well a more coherant review will be forthcomming. Anybody have an opinion on tuners?
Creek's tuners have an excellent reputation.
