Do you mean just the electronics or the speakers too?
Getting my direct view television out from between my speakers (with an 8' spread between them) was the best thing I've ever done for imaging and cleared things up a bit too.
Having speakers too near a direct view TV will cause problems with the TV (you'll loose convergance)
