Notable Recording: Larry Coryell Organ Trio

I am not going to write a full review but I just wanted to post to tell you about a relatively new hybrid SACD/CD release by the Larry Coryell Organ Trio that has very good sound.

The album is Larry Coryell Organ Trio, Impressions: The New York Sessions, and it was released by the Chesky label earlier this year.

The band is Larry Coryell (Guitar), Sam Yael (Organ), and Paul Wertico (Drums) and it is impecably recorded with just a single microphone.

If you like Wes Montgomery's work this is in that vein. Notable track's include a very lush sounding version of Montgomery's Cariba, which you may recognize from Montgomery's Full House album. They also perform a number of tunes strongly associated with Montgomery, including Impressions, and Come Rain or Come Shine.

This is a good for for jazz loving audiophiles.
