North Carolina Audio Club

Let's start a NC Audio Club. Any comments? Any suggestions about how to promote our interest and perhaps hear other folks systems, or benefit from their experiences?

Any further activity here?  I am somewhat interested, but way over in Hillsborough.  I am in the process of upgrading one more time before I am too old to hear the difference!

Hi Tom, I have inquired a few times as well. I am in Charlotte. Where are you located?

Mike

Well, 17 years later (after giving up here), I have a local group that meets every month or two for listening sessions.

From Charleston to Rock Hill to Spartanburg to Concord. It happens.

I'll try once again to see if there is any spark of interest. With that said, I have no CLUE what the 'Gon's policies are anymore with private messaging or getting a GTG/group to actually plan things but I figured that I would chime in and give it a shot.

We'll see.

Tom

FWIW, I have a small house, not conducive for gatherings. Still would enjoy having like-minded people over.
Calloway,

Thanks for the link to the Carolina Audio Society, I bookmarked it.  We are building a home down near Asheville, will be moving in about a year, will look them up after we move!
slaw...look up carolinaaudiosociety.com...they do have meetings in Raleigh during the year and in Greensboro and other cities also..Mike Twomey is one of the founders..he has an audio business in his house ..including Magico..Bryston etc..
@slaw
and others

Im in Raleigh and interested in getting involved.  Is anything happening?
My wife and I live in the DC/Baltimore area and last November were blessed with the arrival of our first grandchild, who lives in Asheville.  We've been scoping out the Asheville/Hendersonville area as a possible area to purchase that "retirement home", and one of the "gotta haves" with that home purchase is a "bonus room" for my man cave.

I don't see any clubs or audio dealers for that matter in Western NC.  Anyone know of either out in the Blue Ridge Mountains?
Hey @n80,

I'm afraid not. Upon reading through these post, you should get a sense of out short history. You're in Fort Mill, @analysis  is in south Charlotte, I'm in Greensboro. Serious people should be able to make this work?
@slaw : Sorry to just now be responding. I think the '@' function did not work.

Is this the Carolina Audio Society? I see they have an event in Charlotte on Saturday the 30th. Unfortunately I will be in Charleston that weekend. Would like to attend a meeting if I am in town.

Just got back from the Capital Audiofest show a few days ago. It was worth the effort getting there.

If you don’t mind driving here again I would very much enjoy having a group here for music and refreshments. We should plan for a gathering after Thanksgiving. Thoughts?

@n80, @anlaysis,@raindance,

n80,

This message is mainly directed at you. I remember reading in your posts that you’re in Fort Worth, SC. Well, that’s not far from @analysis , who, BTW, kind of started this idea of like-minded audiophiles getting together every now and then. I’ve kind of been put in the position of keeping this all together and trying to recrute others. @analysis lives very close to you. I’m in Greensboro, @raindance is in Cary. I believe that if the motivation is strong enough we may make (Super-team) of like-minded individuals from varying backgrounds that would be compatible with one-another.
@raindance

Enjoyed out get-together a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully there will be more interest.

Steve

Good people and Audio shops in NC.  It is one of my fave states to visit.

Happy Listening!

@raindance

We're not that far apart! I'm willing to host the next get-together.

If you're interested, send me a PM.

Steve

@analysis

Are you listening?
@slaw - you know, I stupidly didn't check the date. I just emailed him and got snubbed (and pissed off) :)

Thanks, I'd like to be a part of the group.
@raindance

It looks like @twochannel_guy 's last post was in 2006. Is this (the group) you are referring to?

It is not the one I'm involved with. Let me know if you are interested.

Happy Listening.
Thought you all would like to know that my request to join this group was denied by twochannel_guy because I am a DIY’er in addition to being an audio enthusiast. Yet another elitist group. I am so done with all this attitude.
@rbwinterlink - I have a pair of
MG1.6 that are needing a tweeter refurbished as well as new side rails. If you're interested we can talk.

Steve,

Thanks for making the trip to my place for the first get-together. I hope others can find the time to join us at the next gathering at your place. It will likely take place sometime in June.

Mike

If anyone is interested in joining myself and Mike...our next meeting will be at my place. Time and date will be set later but it will most likely be specific.
Mike,

Thanks for hosting our first get-together today. Enjoyed the music and the conversation. Hopefully others will express interest going forward.

Steve
Hi Mike,

I don't want to tell you wrong, so I'd go to (help) and ask Audiogon for the best answer. It may be you don't have your email notification set up for PM?

Hi Slaw,

My wife decided to make plans for March 31 so that's off the list. April 7 should be good. Anyone else interested? Not sure how to PM from this site?

Hi Mike,

Weekends would be the only time for me. March 31 or April 7 would be the times I may be able to do it. If you want, we could communicate going forward with a PM?

Hi Slaw,

Meeting monthly might be difficult for many. Informal gatherings may work. Maybe anyone who is interested can through out a few dates and I will be happy to have a gathering here. Are weekends, weekdays, evenings or days best? BTW, I'm close to the airport.

I'll start: March 26th ~ 31st., April 4th ~ 7th.

Hi Mike,

I'm in Greensboro. I have interest..just don't know at this point what all would be involved and if I could keep commitments on a regular basis???

Really interested though.

Hi All,

Is there currently an audio club in the Charlotte area? Any interest in starting an informal audio/music group? I have a large dedicated audio room as a starting point. Maybe if there is any interest we could just pick a date that works and go from there.

Mike

Me too, would love to see some killer systems for some inspiration to work harder, lol. I'm in Raleigh though.

And, you aren't that Phil, are you?  If so, love the channel on YouTube.  If not, then I heartily recommend Skills With Phil on said platform.
Hi, hoping there are a few embers left burning here. I'm in Asheville and would love to get together with other folks.
Hi all,

I’m in Charlotte and am interested in the NC club. Also, I have a baby on the way so unfortunately won’t get to use my equipment as much as I’d like. Looking for a good home for my PSB Imagine T and C. I also don’t want them to get damaged from a baby running around. Someone will surely get to enjoy them more than me soon. Let me know if you know anyone local. I am willing to drive .
