No Sound in Left Channel From Cartridge???

Well tonight I was setting up my new P3 with a Grado Gold cartridge. This is the first in about 20 years in setting up a turntable and I know at first I had the wiring wrong on the cartridge and got no sound from the right channel just a dull "hum". I finally figured out the correct wiring and now I have no sound from the left channel. I had another cartridge (Micro Acoustics 2002) and installed it on the P3 and it both channels worked fine. My first wondering is did I "fry" the cartridge when I first wired it incorrectly. Or could it just be something wrong with the cartridge. It's amazing how fast excitment turns to frustration.

Thanks all~~
joarda
I would guess that you have damaged the very fragile cartridge lead wires or clips
Dear Joarda: No, you don't " fry " anything. The problem is that you are wiring the Grado in the wrong way. That's all.

Regards and enjoy the music.

Relax. It's most probably as per Raul, above. Maybe as per Swampwalker further up. The worst case scenario, which is most unlikely, is a problem with one magnet.
Thanks for the feedback. Well I called Grado and went over the wiring with them very carefully and I do have it wired correctly. So they said it must be something with the cartridge and will be sending me out a new one. Can't ask for better customer service than that!!
