I had a Nikko Alpha III power amp. Heavy and solidly built -- at 70 wpc into 8 ohms, it had a big lbs to watts ratio, but alas, it lacked on the bottom end. Mids and highs were okay. Overall sound was maybe a little above mid-fi, build quality was impressive. Sure was attractive, though: black chassis with rack mount handles and vertial rows of LEDs indicating power output. Good resale value.
had a nikko alpfa 450 in the 80's -- it was a nice amp alot of power -- i think 300 wpc ...sounded good at the time ...

i sold it back then and replaced it with two carver m-400 carver cubes -- a definate up grade -- 200wpc and much more dynamic and great bottom end ...i am still using one for my bedroom system ....
i have one i am not using if you are interested ...
Made by Nikko of Japan. Seems the co. has disappeared, just conjecture. Must be pretty old (70s, I would guess). I remember they had a rather slim preamp with a rather large power amp, black, rack mountable. Looked great to me way back when. Probably not a high current power amp. As to the sound, I don't know, but would not expect any miracles. I don't think they could match the sound or value of Adcoms. Rotels, NADs of more recent vintage. Unless they are dirt cheap and you are in serious need of amps, I would pass. If they are actually newer and the co. is still in business all of the above should be disregarded.
