New York-UPSTATE

Somehow the messages for Upstate NY have been lost. The Audiogon Staff asked that I start it agian.

Here we go...If you have an interest, post a message and state where you are. If there is enough interest, maybe we can get something going at some point.

I am in the Syracuse area.

Well looks like I'm the lone eastlander, way over in Glens Falls, I would be interested in getting together if within a drive of hopefully no more than 3ish hours. Main system is McCormack transport and DAC, McCormack MLD-1 Headphone/Pre, Edge M4 Amp, Fried Studio V's, AudioPower Ultra 1116 and PE-1, and all Synergistic cabling. AV system is Marantz Receiver, Denon DVD, Cal-Audio CL 10 CD, Snell XA60 Mains Audio Power 1118 for componants and Monster for Panasonic Plasma, also, all synergistic research cabling for audio/tributaries for Video. I'm thinking of adding the Squeeze Box Transporter, but would like to see others like Marantz or Magnum come up with a similar piece - anyone else anxious for a higher end internet radio addition?
Hey guys, Tommy here from Baldwinsville (north of syr). System; Classe cdp.5, Rotel pre, Asl wave-8 mono amps and Tyler ref monitors. I'd love to hear some other (better) systems.
It,s nice to see some responce from the (upstate) Actually lower N.Y.State area.We all share the same hobby and A passion for music im sure.I have A modest system compared to some.Denon, onkyo,Paradigm 90P fronts source technoligies center and rears and I just got A 40" Sammy LCD.So Im A A.V. kinda guy. anybody wanna talk call me at (607) 722-5111 THX Jim...
Hey Jim,

I have both interests. I have a stereo in my Den just for music, but for my living room system a friend and I took my 50" plasma that's been stand mounted for three years, and hung it over the fireplace. I have a 15 year old Marantz AV receiver (dolby pro-logic "antiquated"), but an excellent sounding receiver, and it only runs the surrounds anyway. I have Snell XA60 front speakers, "phantom center" and new Castle surrounds. No sub yet. But I really like having the TV center'd between the front speakers, and am very happy with the sound/video quality, but now I have the bug, but can't do it all at once.
I think it,s time to upgrade that reciever. If you buy new Marantz it will have the HDMI into you,re T.V. and all the new codecs The sound will blow you away.Bluray players are pretty cheap now ,then the center channel.Subwoofer will add that bottom end Bass. One step at A time.It will rock you,re world..THX Jim

Hi everyone.I'm located in Tonawanda.I was an officer in the now defunct club The Western NY Audio Audio Society.I'd like to see a club or informal meetings started to further the interests of those involved in the hobby no matter to what degree.I think location and travel distance might loom as the largest issue for most parties. As a side note, any audiophiles in the WNY area interested in doing in home listening sessions, feel free to contact me to work out the details.Always looking to meet new audiophiles/music lovers.
Denman,
I wonder if we have crossed paths? I know some of you guys from WNYAS used to come down to The Sound Concept in Rochester every once in a while. In time when I build more of a contact list I would like to host a Music night for fun....this may take some time as my shop is small and unknown at this point.

Is the Upstate NY audio club active?I am learning and enjoying old and new equipment/technology/formats. I am between Rochester and Buffalo.
I just noticed these posts, although go back quite a few years.  Has this group met?  I'm in Rome, and have one audiophile friend nearby. We'd definitely be interested in meeting up with other audiophiles.  We have similar systems, McIntosh pre amp/processor, KEF 205.2 speakers, enjoy vinyl, cds and other formats too.
Hello all,
I'm in Rochester. I see this thread goes back to 2003. Has anything materialized?
It doesn't seem like things have gone forward with this thread.  So I am posting to try to keep it alive a little bit.

I am between Cooperstown and Utica, NY and I have enough room for a small meet if anyone is interested.
