New Vinyl or Old Vinyl ?

I am after a pink Floyd album (  Dark side of the Moon ) . There are some new resissue albums out on the market but there are plenty of older ones being sold . What would be the best one to go for to get the best sound quality . Most of the older ones are asking for more money .
Any help would be great .
kind regards

Do I really  need nine copies of Bruebeck's Jazz Impressions of The U.S.A. including a mint promo copy?  Nope, but I have them. It seems as though over the years, they just kept showing up.
U.K. and German first pressings are amazing. I've heard that the Japan pressing is likewise stellar, but aren't they always?

I am not a fan of remastering, especially if the original artist is not involved.  Yes you hear different things but that is because the original artist didn't want the second guitar brought up, or the harmonizing keyboard, or the etc.etc.etc...

Get a clean 1st addition and you're home free.

steve;
forget the audiophool editions including the ridiculous uhqr
early uk ftw.
emi100, even the 30th anniversary before any mofi.
From the point of view of normal people most of us if not all are idiots. Just don't ask me what normal is. 12 copies for a collector is perfectly fine, otherwise two would probably suffice.
I heard that EMI/Manhattan Japanese Pro was best or second best but I don't have it. Regular Mo-Fi was quite disappointing.
Original German WYWH is okay, nothing special.
This is a hobby where being seriously silly is not unheard of. I'll be on the lookout for the UHQR copy.
10-12 is nothing.  I probably have 20 different copies of Steely Dan's "AJA" and close to 15 different copies of "Hotel California" and multiple copies of a few other milestone albums.
Isn't THAT silly?

"Do you have the socks & underwear too...?!"
No, but I do have a T-Shirt and a Poster :-)

MoFi, is your UK first an A2/B2? Do you find it grainy? I've had some early UKs, not a true first, and the B2 sides always sounded less good than the B3. My go to is generally the UK A3/B3, but like you, I have a bunch of copies. Never owned the UHQR, though- that was always considered one of the ultimate MoFis.

This is strictly my opinion, for what it's worth, but I have probably 10-12 different versions of this album. My ranking:

1. Mobile Fidelity UHQR
2. EMI/Toshiba Pro Use Japanese
3. UK 1st Pressing
4. German 1st Pressing
5. Mobile Fidelity regular Pressing
