I have been mulling over the idea myself.Still after much reading come back to the st120 built by Bob Latino. My reason is that VTL seems to give poor service with their older units. The st120 looks excellent, built and sound wise. And they can be upgraded either by you or sent back to the factory without dealing with dealer intervention. I say dealer because VTL new policy is that the owner must ship from a dealer and thats just to intrusive with my time and money.
New st120 by bob latino or used VTL ST-85
Or any other tube amp in the $1000 range. Will be used with a b&k 507 receiver as a preamp zone 2 and a set of paradigm monitor titan . listen to Beatles ,Beck , Radio Head, Dead , bluegrass, blues and rock. I enjoy volume and pace . Thanks for any input .
