New Forum Format Sucks

The new forum format sucks. The old one was perfectly fine.

The new format is different, but it is  fine, plus there are several new features that are very nice, like an expanded search function and the ability to follow new additions to a thread, along with additional information in the lists and posts. Without the rewrite, there probably would never had been any improvements made, ever. Use it for a while. It is easy to use and more functional than the old version.
Change takes longer for some then others. I think it's to early for anyone to conclude it's not an improvement. What's important is we still have the best format to discuss audio/music and purchase equipment!
I like it fine.  With this format you can go back and delete a post if you want.

Need more time to make a judgement, changes are always tough to deal with initially, but I would like to see larger print.
I use Google Chrome and can adjust print size through Chrome.  Just go up the right corner and open the Control box, click on Zoom plus or minus.  Simple fix.
Interesting that the page header still has sharpness and color saturation, then you have faded pastels and thin font below as the the improvement.  Not as eye friendly to me.
Ctrl + or Ctrl - will zoom in or out on IE and Firefox. On MACs I think it is Alt + or Alt -.
Maybe in time we will learn to like it, but why did it need changing?
the old format seemed to working fine, maybe they could have added a few enhancements to improve it. I think Audiogon is government owned...the government mentality is "if it ain't broke....fix it till it is!"

Well we are kinda stuck with it now, and a few years back when they changed other things we all complained, but we are still here ;0

Well OK now that I see how fast a response is posted it is nice, but I smell heated arguments brewing..
Mmm some things about the new platform are more user friendly, some not. I don't like the bleached white interface. Much preferred the traditional yellow interface as it was easier on the eyes. Also, still no ability to post images/photos?? And no ability to like or say thank you for posts. C'mon A'gon!
OMG. all I can see is this bright white background with small black words, I'm putting on my sunglasses!

Please improve on the background contrast and print size...I’m dying here.

Also, can a click on button/tab be installed to quickly go to the end of a thread/post instead of the old lame...hold the arrow in the bar to the right until I finally get to the bottom of the thread.
Can AG please add the ability to directly quote posts, instead of using archaic mark up tags?

No markup tag - but I did have to copy and paste.  Just hit the quote button and then paste. A button would be better, but this works.

Thanks dtc, i've worked out how to use that feature now, though it is kind of clunky. As you said, a button attached to posts would be better.

Another thing, you can no longer see in posts if a member has a system thread like you used to be able to. AG should also allow you to post a signature. Even low end forums allow that. Hopefully AG are listening.
In the infamous words of Mike Ditka (when referring to the re-built Soldier Field) "I think people will grow to like it, once they stop hating it". Sounds like a Yogi Berraism! lol.

A new thread can have a dozen posts before noon now.  This is much better--we are finally operating in real time.  I may check in more than once a day now.

Totally agree!

And you think that's because of a new format/program?
I'm ticked.  Somehow they totally lost my membership.  I've been a member that logs into this forum for 3 years.  After the change to the new forum, I couldn't log in.  My laptop has my handle and password memorized, and I could not log in.

I spent about a 1/2 hour trying to create a new name and rejoining, even though I new I'd have no access to my past posts, etc.  Finally I did what I HATE to do, and signed in using that weird paypal thing.

It still didn't accept my original handle.  Has anyone else experienced this, because I'm ready to punt this forum.

In the past, there were separate passwords for the selling part of the site and the forums. Now, there is only one login. So, if you were using different passwords for the two parts of the site, you now have to use the one for the selling part of the site. No sure, but that may be what you are seeing.
Didn't everyone have to change their password due to more restrictive security rules on the passwords?  I couldn't remember my password but it would not have satisfied the new standard anyway.

It's positive and negative now.
From the application development stand point they simply did not activate all of the previous functions. It's still work in progress, but they decide to launch incomplete product to the public.
Since the posting are in real time are they going to have moderators like the other audio sites?

Many Thanks! for all of the intel. One step forward, one step back.

I did look under my profile and it has a membership date of the 2nd update/upgrade to Agon. I have actually been onsite since its inception.

I hate change as much as the next guy but IMHO: "Sucks" may be a bit of an exaggeration .
this is becoming more and more like e bay. Pushing pay pal, suspicious sellers with no feedback . etc
I think its great. Sure, a few tweaks would make it more interesting....

My only complaint at present is having to mouse over the pictures on the Virtual Systems to see info. Other than, it is great and looks nice to me.
I have noticed that doing web searches on equipment, the links do not work to Audiogon forum posts. So, I guess we won't be able, at least for now, to have access to those opinions posted here on the old forum. This is REALLY bad news. A typical web search would return links to reviews like Stereophile, 6 Moons, Positive feedack, etc. Also for sale listings in Audiogon, USAudiomart, and ebay. But if you are checking into a piece of equipment you really want folks opinion on forums like Audio Review, Audio Karma, Audio Circle, and the Audiogon Forum is a great resource. Has anyone found links to the NEW forum come up in a search?
I agree, this format sucks! The color combo is terrible, very harsh on the eyes. The old format was a lot better.

dbear44 - Why not do  a search on this site for what you are looking for? All the old forum posts are here.
True, you can do a search within Audiogon, but if you are doing a general search on, say, yahoo or google and you get several pages of links then why bother. By the time you check out links on other forums- HiFi Engine, Polk, Audio Asylum, Audio Circle, Audio Review, etc then it's on to something else. The old forum has become invisible outside of Audiogon. I hope that this is only temporary and eventually the old links will be updated on the major search engines.
