need suggestion for external CD ripping drive

I think the optical drive in my laptop is about to die, it is making strange noises. Is there a good external drive for ripping CDs that is USB 2.0?

It does not require a PC. Curious if the write speed is too fast to improve on SQ from red book (though I realize that's not the only factor contributing to better sound on "ripped" CDs).
