Could it be that as Nak transitioned from the green lit CDP-2A to the orange lit, simliar spec but different layout, CD-4 that the factory already had the later model remotes available to ship with the CDP-2A?Of course! Most remotes are outsourced from another manufacturer, especially a relatively small company like Nakamichi. And even a company that makes their own case or even the PC board inside the remote, the code set is virtually always based on one of two basic "languages", and on a 38KHz IR carrier frequency. Actually, I can think of only one manufacturer that engineers all of their infrared remotes from scratch . . .
