Hi Max -
You would be purchasing a headphone amplifier and that would be connected between the A5 cd player and the kw550 amp. You could then listen directly to your CD player and not bother with turning on the amp. I have used the Creek OBH 11 headphone amplifier in this manner. The headphone amplifier would be off when you don't use it.
