Most Cost-Effective Way to Bi-Amp (4-channel McIntosh)

Scrolling through McIntosh's website I came across their MI254 amplifier.

https://www.mcintoshlabs.com/products/amplifiers/MI254

It is a 4-channel, 250 watts into 8 ohms 300 watts into 4 ohms transistor amplifier. A quick google search leads me to believe that it retails for $4,500.

It got me thinking that if I had speakers that could handle bi-amplification, this would sure be an interesting way to power them. 500 watts into each speaker, and 500 McIntosh watts at that. I wonder, if you ran an A/B test with this against McIntosh's regular hi-fi amps, how easily one would be able to spot the difference, at a serious bargain (2x MC312 would set you back $14,000).
Has anyone ever run this amp for Hi-Fi purposes?
