Mosaic Records vs. Jazz Repressings

Greetings All,

I am and have been a fan of Mosaic Records Box Sets of Jazz & Blues. I’ve always been a bit of a completest. The early sets were on vinyl and the later tended to be on CD.  I love what the folks at Mosaic did in terms of research, compiling all available session tracks, and their presentation.  Their work is very commendable, IMHO.

What we are noticing today is that many of the artists and recordings that are part of the Mosiac boxes are being remastered and reissued.  These reissues are beautiful in their presentation and sonics.  I’ve been acquiring some of them, on vinyl, of course.

I have not done this, but I wonder if any of you have.  I may do it when my 2nd turntable comes back to me.  What I am wondering is if anyone has done an A-B comparison of the sonics of the the Mosaic Releases vs the new repressings.

I know that the Mosiac Boxes are not on 180gr vinyl or on 45 RPM like many of the repressings, but to my ear I’ve always found the Mosiac work to sound very pleasing and of high quality.

Anybody have experience in the compare and contrast between the Mosiac Box set vinyl vs reissued vinyl?

Appreciate your thoughts.
