Moneoone Nova Cables

Ok will start this by saying I am a long time cable skeptic. Not in the sense that I thought they would do nothing but that the expensive cables would simply color the sound in a way some or most would find pleasing rather than automatically make it better. I have always thought that expensive power cables were a crock! I mean how couldn’t they be right? They are bringing the power 3 ft from the outlet to the component. Well I have been proven wrong. Take this for what you will as I have no incentive to lie or sugar coat. I am actually reluctantly sending the cables back from a trial. Not because they didn’t make a difference, they most certainly did. It’s the fact I don’t really have the disposable income at the moment to purchase them.

Enter the Moneoone  Nova power cable and XLR cables. Immediately upon putting these in my system there was noticed or I guess unnoticed a complete lack of glare. I expected to hear no change or some frequencies boosted etc but this was not the case. I found myself playing my system about 10db louder than usual with no fatigue. This was absolutely not subtle. Improvements were all over the spectrum from lows to highs. I have to say the highs were the biggest improvement. Cymbals in particular were brought to a different level. I am a long time rock/metal guy although I listen to just about everything. This is just one example: Clutch is one of my favorite bands but I would never play them. Cymbals were just this splashy mess most of the time and it would just ruin the experience. I can put on my old Clutch albums now and I’m not going to lie that they sound like audiophile recordings but do in fact sound MORE than listenable. Same thing for more radio rock (Offspring) type stuff to Slayer. It’s pretty crazy really the difference. Yes I have taken these cables out of the system and put the old stuff back in to verify my results and it is striking. It’s like they take out all this hash I didn’t know was there and just cleaned it all up from top to bottom.

I have no idea what kind of filtering or whatever is going on here but it’s there and it’s obvious. All I know is these cables in my system in my room are transformative. My next upgrade will not be a component but will be cables, a little bit at a time. These are on the top of my list when I’m able to buy. It really pains me to send them back!

"It Pains Me To Send Them Back!" ???????
Some pair of balls from someone who never intended to buy them in the first place. And all this from someone who can only compare something he cannot afford against a "stock" power cord?
I think most of the people who read this missed these facts - Only an idiot like MC would agree with you & only because you are agreeing with him.

And now for something completely different: the truth.

People try stuff all the time. It's a thing. There's even a thread here recently the whole subject of which is who can I get to send me stuff to try for free? Where was paladin then? Crickets.

The truth is if there is anyone here with a history of never trying before buying it is me. The exception is when people send me stuff to audition, to review and provide feedback. Something no one would ever do except when they feel the person has the credibility and the evaluation and writing skills to make it worth the while. Which they do. So much for the idiot charge.

A little background. I also have a reputation for being very skeptical of DIY cables. Lubos is trying to make the leap from really advanced DIY to entrepreneur. Moneoone is a startup. Nova and Supernova are his first products. I was sent prototypes of both to evaluate precisely because I am a credible, knowledgeable and if I may say so one very advanced audiophile. If it burns your buns to read that, nobody forcing you to read that. Move along. Nobody forcing you to read anything.

I am also one hell of a wanker, as Rick would put it. So much a wanker I decided long ago I am gonna tell the truth, and let the chips fall where they may. So again, anyone uncomfortable with that, don't throw insults. It only makes you look weak. Just move along, please.

Part of my evaluation covers aspects of business development and marketing. As such it is clear to me that Lubos has a couple products, Nova and Supernova, that in many respects compete very favorably with some very well regarded and expensive cables. He really has only one problem or hurdle, that of getting the word out so people know this is indeed the case.

One way is to spend money on ads. Another is to get the product into people's hands where they can hear it for themselves. Both ways cost money. One directly targets enthusiast audiophiles. Specifically, the ones so keen on improving their systems they are willing to go to the trouble of trying new things like this.

That is all that is going on here. Mofojo said it himself, he decided to try them based on my review. Wasn't expecting much. Was surprised when lo and behold turns out I was spot on. So there's that credibility thing again. Even though they are going back, that's the way it goes sometimes (and for all kinds of reasons) so score a win for Lubos.

That's the way these things go. In case people forget, or missed the posts (it's been a while) I was around and friends with Stewart Marcantoni back in the early 90's when Caelin Gabriel was about where Lubos is now. Caelin brought a few of his Shunyata PowerSnakes over to my house to demo one time. I still have one. If performance was the only thing then Lubos will be the next Caelin and Moneoone will be the next Shunyata. But it is never enough to just build a better mouse trap. Time will tell.

Rather than dwell on the negative Nancy's I think it is important for people to keep in mind that for every one here with nothing to contribute (but posting nonetheless) there's many times as many people reading and getting a lot out of this without taking time to comment. I had no idea mofojo was even reading my review, let alone that it would motivate him enough to try one. Now that he did it is really neat that he took the time to post his comments, even in the face of all these horrible people who do nothing but attack.

Atta boy, mofojo! Here's to the day so many follow your example we drown out the haters!

If you have something better than Supernova I would sure like to hear it.
Sounds too much like an advertisement.

Brilliant.

The art of writing component evaluations mofojo is a balancing act. On the one hand you write for audiophiles enthusiastic and looking for opportunities to improve their systems. On the other hand are schlubs, schlemiels, trolls, backseat drivers and Monday morning quarterbacks. Who cares about them? They don’t like the writing, they are welcome to go do the work themselves, and try and do better.

They never do, of course. The mystery is why they persist. For the thrill of seeing their words lit up on the screen, I guess.

This is how it goes, mofojo. Just so you know. Its nothing personal. They are equal opportunity haters. Anyone doing something, getting anywhere, they aren’t, makes ’em jealous. Don’t fall for it. Not for a minute. Andy2 has nothing to say, nor do any of them. You do, and you said it, and good for you.

That is by the way an excellent description and everything I have heard. Good observation, about the importance of wire. Quality cables are every bit as important a component as any other. The main obstacles to realizing this are the inertia of the deniers, combined with the sad fact that a lot of what’s out there really isn’t that good and really does substantiate a lot of the deniers claims. The truth is a lot of the times they are right.

Now, to the matter at hand. I have Nova and Supernova but no XLR so curious to know if the interconnect shares the same sort of sound as the power cord?

Without MC nobody would know that these cables exist. Thank you MC for spreading the word.
My pleasure. Also my turn to eat crow and make amends for dissing DIY cables all these years. Well Ted Denney and Caelin Gabriel were once unknown, little more than really good DIY'ers, something I know from meeting them when that's about all they were. Since that was a good 30 years ago I guess I am okay with being wrong about that often. Heh.

Seriously though, I think it will be terrific if you can grow Moneoone into something like Shunyata. Why not? Then maybe everyone here can look back and say, "I knew that guy before he became famous."
dgluke- Moneoone is here https://www.moneoone.com Nova may be a little rich compared to your other stuff. Then again one thing about cables they bring everything to life. You have no idea how much performance is lurking there hidden by low end wire.
Again with the fantasy. There are no budget cables this good. Near as I can tell there are no comparably priced neither. The Nova is incredibly good value for the money.
There are plenty of other brands at reasonable entry point that can be just as astonishing in your system as Nova’s.

You don't say. You must have compared them then. Which entry level ones did you find sound just as astonishing as Nova?
