I have no comment on those specific players, but a general comment -- depending on the noise in your environment, the lenght of the ICs from the player to the preamp and the quality of the balanced inputs on the preamp, a player with balanced outputs may be worthwhile. Note also that balanced outputs typically produce 2X the "normal" voltage, so you may end up with less useable volume control.
I have a C5xe. I'm not so sure that balanced operation should be a question. Some components sound better balanced (all Ayre equipment)..some sound better single ended. As far as the C5xe is concerned, I think its the best silver disc player. I also have a VPI Superscoutmaster with Benz Ebony cartridge..sometimes the VPI wins, sometimes the Ayre wins.
